Jammu,September 01 (Scoop News)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir today welcomed the Government of India’s firm rejection of the illegal award passed by the so-called Court of Arbitration at Hague concerning the Indus Waters Treaty, describing the decision as a clear and resolute assertion of India’s sovereignty and national interest.
In a press release issued today Parimoksh Seth Spokesperson BJP J&K said that the Modi Government has once again demonstrated that India’s sovereignty, security and national interests will never be compromised under any circumstances. The Government of India led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that the so-called Court of Arbitration was illegally constituted and it has no jurisdiction to pronounce upon India’s sovereign decisions taken by India in its national interests.
The Modi Government has shown that New India will not allow any foreign forum or illegally constituted body to dictate terms and conditions on matters concerning India’s sovereign rights. BJP J&K strongly supports the Government’s position that the proceedings and pronouncements of the illegally constituted arbitration body have no bearing on India’s sovereign decisions. The Government has also reiterated that its decision to keep the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance remains in force till Pakistan Credibly and irrevocably abjures it's support for cross border terrorism.
Seth further said that the Indus waters are intrinsically linked with the rights, development and security interests of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and nation as a whole. India cannot permit its sovereign rights over its natural resources and development projects to be subjected to an illegitimate external process.
The message is loud and clear: India will decide what is in India’s national interest. No arbitrary award passed by illegally constituted forum can override the sovereignty of the India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has consistently placed national security, territorial integrity and national interest above everything else Adv. Parimoksh Seth said.
BJP J&K also condemned attempts to use illegally constituted international forums on Indus Water Treaty issue and appreciated the Government of India for standing firm and protecting the country’s legitimate interests.
BJP J&K reiterates its complete support to the Modi Government’s uncompromising stand on India’s sovereignty, national security and rightful interests over its water resources.
