Grievance redressal Camps/ other events mark observance of Block Diwas across Kashmir

Srinagar, April 07(Scoop News)- As part of Governments ambitious Jan Abhiyan programme, the Block Divas or Youm-e-Block was today observed with great enthusiasm across all the districts of Kashmir.
On the occasion, the respective District Administrations organised grievance redressal camps besides other related events at Block Headquarters and at different locations of the district to listen to the public issues, grievances and raise awareness on various Centrally Sponsored Schemes meant for welfare of youth, farmers and others.
The officers on the occasion assessed the progress of developmental works being executed in different sectors and redressed the public grievances as well as providing the services to the masses at their door steps to strengthen grassroots level democracy.
At Budgam: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole today said that government officers and public representatives must work in coordination as a team for prompt redressal of public grievances and developmental process in their respective districts.
The Div Com made these remarks while addressing a Block Diwas function held in the lawns of Town Hall Beerwah, Budgam.
The DDC Chairman Budgam, Nazir Ahmad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza were also present on the occasion. The program also witnessed huge public participation from Beerwah and adjacent areas.
Stressing on the speedy completion of all developmental projects, the Div Com said that the government officers must listen to all public representatives and work with them without any bias, discrimination of their party affiliations.
Deliberating on the importance of holding Block Diwas programmes, the Div Com said that such function creates an opportunity for all public representatives including DDC Chairman, DDC member Panch, Sarpanch, and BDC members to raise issues related to their areas directly with the concerned officers for prompt resolution.
He said that various projects under both UT and centrally sponsored schemes have been taken up and various developmental works shall start for entire UT including district Budgam, to ensure over all development process including uninterrupted power supply to the general public besides potable water supply to every household under Jal Jeevan Mission by March-2022.
He also said that various road projects have been approved for Beerwah under which swift macadamisation and road construction work shall be carried out by concerned executing agencies.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Chairman praised the public for active participation and said that road projects worth Rs. 5 Crore have been approved for Block Beerwah and work on these projects shall be taken up for execution at the earliest.
Urging officers to cooperate with the public representatives for better and speedy redressal of public issues, DDC chairman demanded that officers must listen to them and ensure prompt public services delivery at all government offices. He said that officers should work to the utmost satisfaction of the public for better results.
Among various other issues, the public at Beerwah demanded construction of a bridge on Nallah Sukhnag, approval of Hydro power project, improvement of HT and LT lines and providing a bus facility for the students of Degree College Beerwah.
The DDC chairman demanded that few panchayat halqas despite being geographically and demographically close to Beerwah have been kept with other assembly segments which should be merged with Beerwah for better representation, administrative convenience and development of these panchayat halqas.
On the occasion, various PRIs and civil society members and social activists also raised various issues of public importance.
Various departments had also set up stalls to showcase their products and services for the awareness of the general public.
Among others, SDM Beerwah and all district and sectoral officers were also present on the occasion.
At Ganderbal: the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna today presided over the weekly Block Diwas program at District Hospital (DH) here.
On the occasion, the DC was apprised about various developmental issues by the PRIs and locals of Ganderbal and Sherpathri blocks.
After listening to the issues of the locals, the DC redressed many grievances on the spot and passed a slew of directions to the concerned officers.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC appealed to people above the age of 45 years to come forward and get vaccinated at the identified CVCs in their vicinity. She said that the district Administration has taken number of measures to mitigate the spread of infection and sought cooperation of all sects of the society.
The DC directed the officers/officials of the Health Department to speed up the ongoing Covid vaccination drive so that targets are achieved in time and stressed for generating mass awareness among the public about the importance of vaccination and observance of covid guidelines.
Meanwhile, World Health Day was also observed at District Hospital during which several officials of the health department spoke on the importance of the day and raised awareness among the people present there regarding the importance and need of covid vaccination and adherence of covid protocols to mitigate the covid infection in the district.
The DC during the Diwas was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police, Suhail Munawar Mir, ADC Ganderbal, CPO, DIO, Tehsildar Ganderbal and other district and sectoral officers.
At Pulwama: The Block Diwas was held at Town Hall Pampore under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary.
Speaking to a huge gathering of people, the DDC stated that Block Diwas is a platform to connect with people and redress their issues. The DDC spent the whole day in Block Pampore and redressed hundreds of grievances on spot.
During the Public hearing various delegations, individuals, deputations from Panchayats apprised the DDC about the issues pertaining to the different departments including and other sectors. The delegations also raised the issues regarding the provision of various services.
The DDC gave a patient hearing to the visiting delegations and individuals and assured them of resolving all the genuine issues.
On the occasion, the DDC urged officers to complete the works within the shortest possible time. He directed them to exhort for decongestion of Pampore town besides declaring the hospital zone a No - Parking zone.
He appealed to people to register for Covid vaccination and be the agents in mitigation of Covid pandemic. He said vaccination is open to people above 45 years of age with specified Comorbidities.
The DDC on the occasion was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora, Tehsildar Pampore, BDO Pampore and all District Officers.
Meanwhile, Block Divas was also held in block Tral and Pulwama, where designated officers including ADC Tral and ADC Pulwama besides other district and sectoral officers listened to the demands and issues of the people. They assured timely redressal of the genuine grievances, whereas on spot directions were also passed for the redressal of the genuine demands raised by the people.
On the occasion, many grievances were resolved on the spot and rest were forwarded to the concerned departments for prompt redressal through an established tracking system.
At Shopian: The District Administration, under the overall supervision of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today organised the Block Diwas programme at Gagron, Shopian to listen to the issues and grievances of the people.
A series of activities were also organised at different places of the district including Zainapora and Keller etc.
During the Programme at Gagron, locals raised demands of their areas seeking augmentation of power and water supply, medicare facilities, construction of roads etc.
The DDC, after listening to the issues and demands, gave on the spot directions to the concerned departments for early redressal of the genuine problems raised on the occasion. He assured the public that all their genuine grievances will be resolved in a time bound manner.
The concerned Officers/Officials, besides a large number of people from various areas participated in this Block Diwas programme.
At Bandipora: The Block Diwas programme was observed on Wednesday in all the blocks of Bandipora district during which officers listened to public issues, grievances and demands.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad attended the Block Diwas at Town hall Hajin and held Public Grievance Camp. He interacted with the public besides reviewing the developmental activities taking place in the block.
Dozens of delegations including members of District Development Councils, BDC chairpersons and other members of Panchayat Raj Institutions besides scores of individuals called on the DC and apprised him about the problems faced by them in day to day life.
While responding to public grievances, the DC directed PDD to shift the Sub Division to Hajin within three days and also called for rationalization of Sub Divisions of R&B and Jal shakti.
Additional Superintendent of Police Bandipora, Additional Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Joint Director Planning, SUB divisional Magistrate Sumbal and other senior officers of the district were present on the occasion.
Later, the DC visited CHC Hajin to review the status of its completion besides visiting Shadipora indoor stadium for preparations of Covid Hospital in case of need.
Dr Owais also directed the Irrigation department and Municipal Committee Hajin to ensure dewatering of water logged areas and desilting of canals. He asked WUCMA to clear Sadunara canal at earliest so that the area doesn't remain inundated. He also directed the R & B department to expedite work on Dak Banglow and asked them to project a DPR of administrative complex in relevant heads.
The DC also reviewed Covid-19 Vaccination process and asked officers to ensure maximum people are vaccinated. He sought the cooperation of the general public especially Imams, opinion leaders and other senior citizens to motivate people to go for vaccination. He also appealed not to lower guard and follow SOPs in letter and spirit especially use of masks.
The citizens raised the issue of growing drug menace and called for joint efforts to eradicate this menace. DC and SSP Bandipora urged the people to cooperate with the law enforcing agencies in the fight against drug menace.
Similar Public interactions were held across the district at block levels. ADDC Bandipora Afsar Ali Khan chaired Block Diwas at Arin while Sub Divisional Magistrate Dr Mudasir chaired the Block Diwas programme at Dawer in Gurez Valley.
At Kupwara: The Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara Imam Din today chaired a Block Diwas cum Public interaction programme at Municipal Committee Office, Langate here.
The Block Development Council Chairperson, Showkat Ahmad Pandit, President Municipal Committee, Langate Mohammad Sadiq Mir, Officers, PRIs and people in large numbers participated in the programme.
On the occasion, the participants raised various demands including developmental needs related to their areas with the chair.
The DC heard all grievances patiently and issued on spot directions to the concerned officers for timely resolution of grievances.
Referring to the construction of shops and other buildings by the public, the DC said that orders have already been passed to ensure every kind of development through proper planning in the district, adding that no encroachment will be tolerated. He urged upon the people to provide ethical support and cooperation to the administration so that encroachment, if any, is removed.
Earlier, the DC inspected the bridge, namely Dhand-Kadal in Mawer and directed concerned engineers to lay crate bund near the abetment of the bridge for its safety.
He also visited Sub District Hospital, Langate and took stock of the functioning of the Hospital. He inspected various sections of the Hospital including OPD, Dental, USG, Gynecology, Ayush and Covid-19 Immunization Centre.
On the occasion, the DC interacted with the patients and enquired about the facilities being provided to them. He also interacted with doctors and paramedics and asked them to work with added dedication and honesty.
Later, the DC inspected Jal Shakti (PHE) division Handwara and took stock of the functioning of the division. He directed the Executive Engineer to ensure proper usage of water pipes available in his office by facilitating the eligible people.
At Kulgam: The District Administration Kulgam today organised Mega Block Diwas at 3 blocks of the district viz. Devsar, Kulgam and D.H.Pora to take appraisal of the public issues, grievances and demands.
During the mega Block Diwas, functions were held at all the three blocks of the district. On the occasion Officers and officials from line departments listened to issues, grievances and demand of the people for timely redressal.
Meanwhile to take first hand appraisal of public grievances and demands, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din-Bhat remained available at Block Complex Devsar, where he listened to the grievances and issues of people for redressal.
People from various areas including Kund, Sopat, Devsar apprised the DC about various issues and put forth their demand for redressal.
The DC issued on spot directions to the concerned for early redressal of various issues and grievances, moreover several issues were also redressed on spot by him.
The DC directed the officers and officials of all departments to remain available for public at all times to mitigate the issues of the public on priority. He also urged people to adhere to Covid-19 SOPs and also get vaccinated.
Present on the occasion were, District Development Council members from Devsar A, B and Kund Constituencies, BDC and other PRI members.
Besides Additional Development Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Development, Tehsildar, CMO, BMO, BDOs and other officers and a large number of general public participated in the programme.
