With arrival of tourist season, authorities discuss means for smooth traffic regulation in Ladakh region

Leh (Ladakh), March 29, (Scoop News)-Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Sonam Dawa, held a meeting and was attended by district officers for smooth regulation of traffic in view of the upcoming tourist season in the region. Speaking during the meeting, Dr Dawa said that Leh was facing a serious challenge of increasing traffic snarls which disturbs the eco system of Ladakh. “To minimize the impact on environment, we must collectively find a way out,” he suggested. CEC inspects cleanliness drive in Leh town

Army rescues 71 including 21 women stranded tourists in Chang La Pass, Ladakh
Srinagar, March 28, (Scoop News)- Indian Army has rescued seventy one tourists, including twenty one women and children, stranded in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir due to an avalanche between Chang La Pass and Tangtse village. A defence spokesman today said that Indian Army troops deployed in Eastern Ladakh responded to aid of civilians trapped at the Chang La Pass due to an avalanche that struck between Chang La and Tangtse. 71 tourists including 21 women and children were rescued and provided medical assistance, food, clothing and accommodation. ...
