Special Measures being taken to ensure socio-economic empowerment of Specially Abled persons: Dr Shehrish
Distributes 80 Motorized scooties among divyangs; Reiterates commitment to ensure their dignified life
Baramulla, July 06 (Scoop News)- Asserting that the district administration will explore every possibility to ensure the empowerment of specially abled persons, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr Syed Shehrish Asgar today remarked that special measures are being taken to realise the ambition of socio-economic empowerment of such persons. She said that Divyangs are the part and parcel of our society and every endeavor shall be taken so that they live their lives with dignity and honour.
The DC made these remarks during a distribution camp which was organised by the Department of Social Welfare Baramulla in order to provide aid and appliances to the physically challenged persons. The distribution camp was organised as part of the special program which was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K with virtual participation of the functionaries of district administrations.
On the occasion, the DC distributed 80 Motorized Scooties among the identified beneficiaries. She also interacted with them and listened their aspirations during which they demanded that further measures should be taken for their empowerment which includes routine interaction with the concerned authorities for redressing their grievances.
While assuring that all their geniune concerns shall be heard, Dr Shehrish directed to disseminate awareness among these persons regarding the welfare schemes and programmes that have been specially designed for their welfare. She emphasized upon the concerned authorities to integrate them with the ambitious Mission Youth so that sustainable livelihood opportunities are facilitated for them. Moreover, the DC directed to organise special camps at Tehsil levels for meeting out some of their demands that have been highlighted by them during the program.
Meanwhile, District Social Welfare Officer Baramulla Nisar Ahmad Wani enlightened about the various schemes, sponsored by Social Welfare Department for their welfare and said the objective of providing these scooties is to empower the specially-abled persons so that they can live in society with dignity and honor. He appraised the DC that there is a requirement of about 600 such Scooties based on the persistent demand of the eligible beneficiaries.
Among others Additional District Development Commissioner Aijaz Abdullah Saraf,Accounts Officer Showkat Ali Khan and other officers and officials were present on the occasion.
CUK’s SLS holds counselling prog on KCS-Judicial and Executive Services
Ganderbal, July 6: Subsequent to the signing of Memorandum of Understanding, the Department of Law, School of Legal Studies (SLS), Central University of Kashmir and School of Law, University of Kashmir, organised a counselling cum orientation programme on Kashmir Civil Services-Judicial and Executive Services for the students at Tulmulla here on Wednesday.
Dean, School of Legal Studies, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, said the primary objective of organising such programmes is to prepare the students for the competitive examinations in different fields, held across the country.
Sharing his views about the programme, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, asked the students to draw inspiration from the guest officers who have qualified the competitive examinations with flying colors and have become role models for the future generations.
Mr. Waheed Ahmad, KAS officer delivered a lecture on how he worked to crack the competitive examination and discussed various options available after graduating in law. Mr. Faizan-e-Nazar KCS Judicial highlighted the syllabus aspect of the KCS Judicial and how it can be accomplished. Mr. Majid Farooq KCS Judicial deliberated upon the difference between the competitive examinations and examination for LLB degree. He elaborated upon the smart work for pursuing the said examination. Mr. Ishtiyaq Alam KCS Judicial stressed upon attending the classes regularly and punctually and developing the habit of reading and remaining updated with current legal issues.
A joint interactive session of answer writing with the students was held by Mr. Faizan-e-Nazar and Mr. Majid Farooq. Deptt Coordinator, Mr. Bilal Ahmad Ganai, conducted the programme proceedings while Head and Dean, School of Law, University of Kashmir, Prof. Beauty Banday, proposed the vote of thanks.
