J&K BJP celebrates Lohri, extends message for Universal peace | BJP OBC Morcha Jammu Kashmir Celebrate Lohri festival in Jammu | Jammu,January 13 (Scoop News)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir, extended the message of universal peace and love while it celebrated Lohri at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. Former Dy. CM Kavinder Gupta, BJP State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Koul, former MP Shamsher Singh Manhas, former Minister Sat Sharma, BJP Vice President Yudhvir Sethi, General Secretary Dr. Devinder Manyal, BJP NEM Priya Sethi, former MLC Vikram Randhawa and other BJP leaders were present on the occasion. BJP senior leaders extended Lohri greetings to the whole mankind while praying for the good fortune, bumper harvests and peace in the Universe. They also offered traditional nuts and sweets to all those assembled on the occasion. Kavinder Gupta, while extending the greetings of the Lohri festival to everybody especially to the residents of J&K, prayed for the prosperity of Jammu & Kashmir. He said that the festival depicts a profound love of nature, plentiful reap and the humans and also marks the realm of activeness among all living creatures. He said that the auspicious event of Lohri corresponds with the beginning of 'Magh' month, which initiates only a day after Lohri indicating the finish of cruel winter, he added and extended the message of Universal Peace and Love to all. Ashok Koul said that it is always pleasurable to celebrate the “Lohri” as this gives the indication of brotherhood among us with the lovely change in weather in anticipation of good fortune for the whole world. He greeted people, said that “Lohri” depicts of our cultural ethos for time immemorial, and exhorted them to celebrate such occasions together with all their near and dear ones. He also prayed for the peace in Jammu & Kashmir denouncing the acts of terrorism and violence in the region.

In the Program District President Pramodh Kapahi said Lohri is a popular winter Punjabi folk festival celebrated primarily in Northern India. It is believed by many that the festival marks the passing of the winter . As a part of Lohri celebrations, children go around homes singing the traditional folk songs of Lohri with "Dulla Bhatti" name included. Lohri also marks the beginning of the harvest season and sunny days. Sat Sharma said Lohri, which takes place on the night before Makar Sankranti, is a traditional winter folk festival from northern India. Farmers from all around the country attend this annual harvest festival. As part of the harvest ritual, foods such as til (black sesame seeds), gur (jaggery), gajak, popcorn, and peanuts are offered to the fire. Lohri is also associated with the shortest day and longest night of the year, known as the 'Winter Solstice.' It actually signifies the end of winter and the arrival of spring. ... |
