NYK Doda organises District Level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament in GDC Doda


Jammu,March 28 (Scoop News)-Nehru Yuva Kendra Doda, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt of India organised “Neighbourhood Youth Parliament” on the theme “Nasha Mukt Bharat” in collaboration with NSS Unit of Govt Degree College, Doda on 27-03-2024. Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal GDC Doda inaugurated the programme along with District Youth Officer Khushal Gupta, Dr. Sandeep Kotwal (Sr. Asst. Prof. Botany), Prof. Davinder Kumar (HOD Botany), Prof. Jamsheed Ahmed (NSS PO), Prof. Jaswant (NCC), Prof. Satish (Dept of Urdu), Dr. Barket (NCC Navy), Prof. Manjeet Singh, Prof. Upma and other staff members. The programme witnessed participation of hundreds of youth belonging to different parts of the district.


The event started with the traditional lamp lightening ceremony followed by the welcome address by District Youth Officer Khushal Gupta. He briefed the audience about the objectives of organising such programmes and urged the youth to get registered in MY Bharat portal. All the participants were given MY Bharat badges and they registered themselves on MY Bharat portal. Dr. Sandeep Kotwal briefed the audience about MY Bharat portal and its relevance in the present era of digitalization. Prof. Manjeet Singh delivered an awareness lecture on New India - New Initiatives focussing on the various developments made by the nation during the recent years. Prof. Upma of Hindi department delivered an awareness lecture on Nari-Shakti. The volunteers of GDC Doda participated in the Mock Parliament organised on “Nasha Mukt Bharat” thereby propagating important message of parliamentary procedures and steps taken by the govt. to make India, a drug free nation.

Principal Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal lauded the efforts of Nehru Yuva Kendra Doda and urged the department to organize such awareness programmes in remote areas also to generate awareness on contemporary issues among the rural folk. He also urged the youth to exercise their right to vote and first time voters to participate actively in voting in the upcoming elections. It was followed by the colourful cultural performances by the students of GDC Doda. Prominent among others present on the occasion included staff of Govt. ITI Doda, Govt. Polyechnic College Doda and many other educations institutions. The event ended with distribution of certificates and mementoes among the participants.
