JKNC seeks rehabilitation, compensation for Parnote Land subsidence victims


Jammu, April 27 (Scoop News)- The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference expressed heartfelt sorrow over the extensive damage caused to more than 50 houses in Parnote Village of Ramban due to subsidence of major portions of land along the Gool-Sangaldan road.



In a joint statement issued here today, senior NC leaders including Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President JKNC, Sajjad Ahmed Kithcloo former minister and Zone President Chenab Valley, Abdul Gani Malik former minister, Zone President Udhampur- Reasi Zone JKNC, Shamshad Shan Chairperson DDC Ramban, Sajjad Shaheen, District President Ramban, Shamim Akhtar DDC Gandhri,Ch Sakhi Mohd DDC Gool have extended heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by this tragic incident, emphasizing the most urgent need for immediate support and assistance from the administration and asked the centre govt to send their top experts team to assess the losses and also take measures that such incident may not occur in future.



Notably, reports have indicated a significant loss, with devastating impacts including power disruption due to the sinking of the Kanga receiving station and 11/33 KV lines, affecting areas with a capacity of 1.3.15 MVA in Kanga, 6.3 MVA in Gool, 6.3 MVA in Sangaldan, 3.15 MVA in Sangaldan, 6.3 MVA in Patel, and 3.15 MVA in Gammon Harog, alongside the destruction of over 50 houses, four towers of 400 KV Transmission Line, one receiving station, 33 KV Transmission Line, and extensive damage to the Ramban-Gool road following the subsidence of the entire area. They demanded that all the above mentioned damages including power and road should be restored and make them functional immediately so that people of the area may not suffer.



The senior NC leaders emphasized the immediate need for swift action from the administration to provide support and assistance to the affected families. They observed that the response of the J&K Administration to this situation appears inadequate, highlighting the pressing need to form a team of officers for a comprehensive assessment and compensation so that the affected families can start rebuilding their homes and businesses.



The senior NC leaders urged the government to step up their efforts in rescue and rehabilitation work, ensuring the safety and well-being of all affected individuals and families in Parnote village. They also underscored the need for resources and assistance to facilitate rebuilding of the lives of those impacted by this devastating tragedy.The senior NC leaders emphasized that J&K National Conference will stand in solidarity with the affected families of Parnote, Ramban.
