JKCPRS And JK Students Association Team Up To Mentor Kashmiri Students for Schwarzman Scholarship


Jammu/Srinagar, May 21 (Scoop News)-The J&K Centre for Peace Research and Sustainable Development (JKCPRS), in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA), here on Monday, organized an online workshop to guide aspiring fellows from Kashmir who are applying for the prestigious Schwarzman Scholarship Programme this year. Moderated by JKCPRS co-founder Ummar Jamal and Research Fellow Rohool Banka, the workshop saw enthusiastic participation from students across Kashmir.

A highlight of the event was the presence of Pallavi Sareen, a Schwarzman Scholar, who was awarded the scholarship in 2022. Serving as a resource person, Pallavi shared her invaluable insights and experiences with the participants, shedding light on various aspects of the scholarship journey. She commended the students for their impressive questions, comments, and insights that enriched the discussions.

Pallavi Sareen guided the attendees through the details of the Schwarzman Scholarship application process, covering the timeline, eligibility criteria, and how to craft an effective Statement of Purpose (SOP). She provided comprehensive guidance to aspiring scholars, delving into the nuances of securing references, mastering the interview process, and navigating the challenges encountered along the way. Her insights offered participants valuable strategies to enhance their candidature and stand out in the competitive selection process.

During the workshop, Pallavi urged J&K students to seize the opportunity presented by the Schwarzman Scholarship. Emphasizing its transformative impact on individual lives and the broader community, she motivated attendees to overcome barriers and pursue their academic aspirations with determination. The online workshop saw a commendable turnout, with students from diverse backgrounds actively engaging in the discussions and seeking guidance on their scholarship aspirations.

Reflecting on the success of the workshop, Ummar Jamal, co-founder of JKCPRS, expressed his satisfaction with the overwhelming response and the tangible impact it had on the participants. He thanked Pallavi Sareen for providing much-needed guidance to Kashmiri students.

Nasir Khuehami, Chairman of JKCPRS, expressed his pleasure in organizing the Schwarzman Scholarship workshop. He hopes it will inspire and motivate young students and professionals to pursue their aspirations and achieve their fullest potential. Khuehami emphasized that education is crucial for societal progress and development, and the Schwarzman scholarship provides an excellent opportunity for students and professionals to acquire knowledge and skills from some of the world's leading academic institutions.

He noted that the program will help interested individuals understand the scholarship application process, provide valuable insights, and offer guidance and advice.
