Delegation led by CEC, LAHDC Leh calls Union Minister of Communications | | New Delhi, February 10 (Scoop News)-Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, led a delegation comprising Dr. Morup Dorjey, Councillor Lamayuru Constituency, BJP VP Dorjey Angchuk, BJP State Co-Treasurer Tonyot Tashi, Mandal President Tsering Paldan, and Senior Leader Sonam Rinchen, in a meeting with Hon'ble Union Minister of Communications, Sh. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.
The delegation discussed pressing connectivity issues in Ladakh, highlighting slow mobile services due to unconnected with OFC lines and are running on VSAT services in few villages and need to direct the service provider to connect them with OFC, These towers, provided under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), are struggling to support the growing number of users, particularly students relying on online education.
The delegation emphasized the need for swift completion of approved projects, citing delays by contractors that have breached contract agreements.The delegation sought support for making completed mobile towers operational, ensuring reliable power backup to facilitate continuous connectivity. Adv. Tashi Gyalson stressed the importance of 24/7 power solutions, such as solarization, to ensure uninterrupted communication services for both civilian and military purposes, especially those towers which are under Army control. The delegation also raised the issue of ma power at the BSNL office in Leh, shortage of manpower also hampers the performance of works.
The delegation expressed optimism that the discussions would lead to swift action, addressing connectivity issues and enhancing the region's development as assured by the Hon’ble Minister.
