PM Shri Govt. High School Poyen organizes awareness program on substance abuse

Kargil, March 25 (Scoop News)- In a commendable initiative to enhance healthcare accessibility, the Indian Army, in collaboration with Sub District Hospital Drass and with the support of PM Shri Govt. High School Thasgam conducted a free medical camp today for residents of Thasgam and its adjoining villages.

A team of medical professionals provided consultations and treatment to the attendees. The panel included Dr. Joseph Daniel (Orthopedic Specialist), Captain Dr. Sheikh Abass (AMC), Dr. Shehnaz Anjum, and Anjum Sehr from the Sub District Hospital Drass.

The camp witnessed significant participation, with senior citizens, women, and children availing themselves of complimentary medical check-ups and essential medicines.

The initiative reflects a collective commitment to public health and well-being, ensuring that quality healthcare reaches underserved communities. The villagers expressed their profound gratitude to Indian Army, BMO Drass Dr. Sajjad Hussain, and Headmaster Haji Akbar Ali of PM Shri Govt High School Thasgam for their unwavering support in facilitating this noble endeavor.

In line with the directives issued by the Education Department, UT Ladakh, PM Shri Govt. High School Poyen today organized a day-long awareness program on substance abuse.

The event witnessed participation from students, staff, villagers, including SMDC and VEC members. Various speakers, including students, teachers, and guests, highlighted the harmful effects of drug abuse, urging students to stay away from negative influences.

A thought-provoking skit on the detrimental impact of drug abuse was performed by the students, earning appreciation from the audience.

In his address, Headmaster Ashraf Ali Sagar encouraged students to focus on their studies and utilize their spare time productively. He also warned about the dangers of drug addiction and advised students to avoid bad company.

The program concluded with students and staff taking an oath to combat drug addiction and substance abuse, pledging to work towards a drug-free society.
