J&K Assembly passes Appropriation Bills, GST Amendment Bill | Assembly passes motion for election of three House Committees | Jammu, March 25 (Scoop News)- The Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly today passed two Appropriation Bills, authorizing withdrawal of funds from the Union Territory’s Consolidated Fund for the financial years 2024-25 and 2025-26.
The Appropriation Bill for the financial year 2024-25 (L.A. Bill No. 2 of 2025) and the Appropriation Bill for 2025-26 (L.A. Bill No. 3 of 2025) were both introduced by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, who also holds the Finance portfolio. Both the bills were passed by voice vote following their presentation.
Additionally, the Assembly passed the Jammu and Kashmir Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025 (L.A. Bill No. 1 of 2025) through a voice vote. This bill, also introduced by the Chief Minister, aims to align the Union Territory’s GST Act with recent amendments made to the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.
House passes demand for Grants The J&K Assembly today passed the Grants on Demand Number 2 (SRE Part) for the year 2025-26 amounting ₹16221.06 lakh and Supplementary Demand for Grants for the year 2024-2025 amounting ₹6932.55 lakh by voice vote.
The grants were introduced by the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, in the House and presented by Speaker, Abdul Rahim Rather and subsequently passed by voice vote.
Assembly passes motion for election of three House Committees
The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today passed motions for election of members to three House Committees.
The motions were introduced by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, presented by Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather and passed by the House through a voice vote.
The House approved the formation of the Committee on Public Accounts, Committee on Estimates and Committee on Public Undertakings for the term ending March 31, 2026.
Each Committee will comprise eleven members, elected in accordance with Rules 344, 346 and 349 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the J&K Legislative Assembly.
