NMC urges PM to immediately appoint Chairman and other members of 8th Pay Commission | | Jammu, April 14 (Scoop News)-National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) president, Subash Shastri today urged upon the Prime Minister to immediately appoint Chairman and other members of 8th Pay Commission, constitution of which was approved by the Union Cabinet recently and announcement in this regard should be made at the earliest so that the uncertainty among the employees and pensioners on this vital issue could come to an end “Since the due date for implementation of 8th Pay Commission is 1st January 2026, it is hoped that the Commission will complete its report within the given time frame, so that the benefits of 8th Pay Commission could reach the beneficiaries from January 2026,” Shastri added. Addressing a meeting of NMC workers, Shastri said that notification for the appointment of Chairman and other member of the 8th Pay Commission is need of the hour. Referring to the 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations implemented in 2016, Shastri highlighted the provision to merge 50 per cent DA into basic pay or pension once DA crosses 50 per cent. “With DA now at 53 per cent, we request the Government to merge 50 per cent DA into basic pay or pension,” he added. The NMC leader also demanded 20 per cent interim relief for Centre and State Government employees and pensioners till the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission. Shastri stressed on the need to immediately restore Old Pension Scheme (OPS) as a confidence building measure because many States have done this. Release of 18 months’ pending DA arrears and regularization of daily wagers who have completed seven years of service in March, 2024 remained other demands, along with the demand of hike in monthly emoluments to Rs 18,000 and enhancement of Medical allowance to Rs. 1000 per month on the pattern of Ladakh beside release of 2 perceñt DA in favour of JK UT emploýees and pensioners. Rajan Babu, BS Jamwal, Surinder Kumar, Raj Singh, Ramesh Sharma,Anil Gupta Vinod Kumar Daljit Singh, Rajnish Kapoor, Chaman Lal, Birbal, and others were also present in the meeting.
