| Commissioner/Secretary H&UD Ladakh Visits SWM Plant at Upper Kurbathang Kargil | |
Kargil, May 15(Scoop News)-Commissioner/Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UD), Ladakh, Shurbir Singh, IAS accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Kargil, Ayaz Ahmed Bhat and other concerned staff, today visited the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Plant at Upper Kurbathang, Kargil, and took an overall review of the functioning of the facility.
During the visit, the Commissioner/Secretary inspected the Legacy Waste Processing Plant and the Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant and reviewed the operational status of the units. The officers assessed the ongoing waste processing mechanisms, sanitation management practices, and the measures being undertaken for scientific disposal of waste in the town.
The Commissioner/Secretary stressed the importance of efficient solid and liquid waste management systems for maintaining cleanliness, environmental sustainability, and public health. He directed the concerned officials to ensure smooth functioning of the plants and timely disposal and treatment of waste as per established norms and guidelines.
The Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Kargil, briefed the visiting officers regarding the functioning of the facilities, progress achieved under waste management initiatives, and the challenges faced in daily operations.
