| Grand Academic Conclave Concludes at Govt. SPMR College of Commerce with a Vision | | for a Transformative New World Order | Jammu, May 15(Scoop News)-Government SPMR College of Commerce Jammu catalyzed and supported by the J&K Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, and J&K Bank, Canal Road, Jammu successfully culminated its prestigious Two-Day International Conference on “Manoeuvring Business, Society, and Culture in the New World Order” with an intellectually vibrant and ceremonially rich Valedictory Session marked by scholarly reflections, visionary deliberations, and cultural eloquence.
The International Conference was inaugurated on 14th May, 2026 with great enthusiasm. The inaugural function was graced by the Chief Patron, Sakeena Masood (Itoo), Hon’ble Minister for Health & Medical Education, Higher Education/ School Education and Social Welfare, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, along with the Guest of Honour, Yudhvir Sethi, Hon’ble MLA, Jammu East. The event was also attended by the Patrons of the conference, Prof. (Dr.) K. S. Chandrasekar Rao, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, and Prof. (Dr.) S. Ajaz Bashir, Director Colleges, J&K, while the keynote address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Prikshit Manhas, Director, CEC, UGC.
The valedictory ceremony commenced on 15th May, 2026 at 04:00 PM amidst an atmosphere of academic grandeur and intellectual fervour, celebrating the successful culmination of two days of rigorous discussions, research presentations, and interdisciplinary engagement. The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries including the Chief Guest, Prof. Pragati Kumar, Honourable Vice Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University; Presiding Dignitary, Prof. Ashok Aima, Former Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jammu and presently Chairman of the ISTD Jammu Chapter and the Guest of Honour, Prof. Hardeep Chahal, Director, ICCCR HRM, University of Jammu.
In his welcome address, Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Gupta, Principal of the host institution, underscored the significance of academic collaborations and interdisciplinary research in addressing the complex realities of the rapidly transforming global order. He emphasized the institution’s commitment towards fostering critical inquiry, innovation, and socially responsive education aligned with national and global developmental aspirations.
A major highlight of the conference was an engaging panel discussion conducted by Dr. Ridhi Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, Government SPMR College of Commerce. The participants in the panel discussion included Prof. Simmi Dutta, GCET Jammu, Dr. Sunanda Gupta, Associate Professor SMVDU, Dr. Ashok Sharma Associate Professor Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu and Dr. Gaurav Varshney Assistant Professor IIT Jammu. The panel discussion provided an insightful platform for experts and participants to deliberate upon contemporary global challenges, innovative business strategies, cultural adaptability and sustainable societal development in the changing international landscape. The session was widely appreciated for its interactive and intellectually stimulating discourse.
The detailed Conference Report was presented by the Organising Secretary, Dr. Jasvinder Singh, who comprehensively highlighted the major deliberations, keynote sessions, technical presentations, and thematic discussions conducted during the conference. The report reflected the overwhelming academic participation and the wide spectrum of contemporary issues addressed through meaningful scholarly engagement.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Hardeep Chahal highlighted the transformative role of higher education institutions in promoting ethical leadership, innovation, and sustainable societal development while emphasizing the need to balance changing socio-economic realities with cultural values and human sensitivity. Prof. Ashok Aima stressed the significance of independent thinking, intellectual freedom, and value-based education, and appreciated the organisers for conceptualising a conference theme of great contemporary relevance. In the keynote valedictory address, Prof. Pragati Kumar underlined the importance of education, research, and innovation in shaping future societies and lauded the conference for providing a meaningful platform for interdisciplinary academic dialogue and sustainable global perspectives.
Over the two days the conference witnessed participation of more than 250 researchers, academicians and resource persons from within the India and abroad. The brainstorming Technical Sessions of the conference involved eminent resource persons from the United States, United Kingdom, Fiji, Malaysia and Israel, along with experts from prestigious institutions including University of Delhi, University of Kerala, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and Central University of Punjab, who enriched the conference through insightful deliberations and scholarly contributions.
Parallel to the invited talks, Paper Presentation Sessions were also conducted in the College Smart Room, wherein more than 150 research scholars and academicians presented scholarly papers on diverse themes related to business innovation, cultural transformation, sustainability, entrepreneurship and societal development. The parallel session facilitated rigorous academic dialogue and interdisciplinary exchange among participants.
The proceedings of the session were gracefully compered by Dr. Sunal Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Government SPMR College of Commerce, whose eloquent narration, literary expressions, and dignified stage management added remarkable elegance and warmth to the occasion.
The formal Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Deepshikha Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Government SPMR College of Commerce who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries, organisers, delegates, faculty members, students, and all stakeholders whose collective efforts ensured the resounding success of the conference.
