| CUKashmir Law deptt holds legal literacy prog | |
Ganderbal, May 20(Scoop News)-Department of Law, School of Legal Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), organized a Legal Literacy Programme at Govt Girl Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Tulmula, Ganderbal to spread legal awareness among students and educate them about their legal rights.
Students of BALLB 8th Semester participated in the programme and delivered lectures on legal issues. Mr. Mudassir highlighted the rights of elderly persons and emphasized the need to protect and respect senior citizens in society. Mr. Ismail discussed the concept and importance of Public Interest Litigation (PIL) and explained how it serves as an important mechanism for the protection of public rights. Mr. Gopal delivered a lecture on victim rights and explained the legal remedies available to victims under different laws.
Further, Mr. Taslim spoke on consumer rights and created awareness regarding the protection available to consumers against unfair trade practices. Mr. Tofeel discussed bankers’ rights and duties in the banking sector. Mr. Josim deliberated upon various domestic laws and their significance in maintaining social order, while Mr. Nitin Yadav explained important constitutional provisions and highlighted the fundamental rights and duties guaranteed under the Constitution of India.
Dr. Imran Ahad, Asst Prof and I/C Programme, highlighted the role of legal awareness in empowering citizens and discussed various legal issues relevant to students and society at large. He also encouraged the students to actively participate in such programmes for the promotion of legal awareness and social responsibility.
