Chief Secretary Visits Durbuk Sub-Division
Reviews Development Works and Public Services

Leh, May 31 (Scoop News)-The Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, undertook an extensive visit to Durbuk Sub-Division in Changthang District to review developmental activities, assess public service delivery, and interact with local stakeholders.

During his visit to Tangtse, the Chief Secretary held interactions with public representatives, village functionaries, and local residents to understand their concerns and developmental requirements. He visited the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Tangtse, and inspected the ongoing construction of the new PHC building being executed by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). He reviewed the progress of the project and emphasized the timely completion of the healthcare infrastructure to strengthen medical services in the region.

The Chief Secretary also reviewed the ongoing works being carried out under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). The review was attended by the Chief Engineer, Power Development Department (PDD), and officials of the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). He assessed the status of the works and discussed measures for strengthening power infrastructure and ensuring reliable electricity supply in the area.

At Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Tangtse, he interacted with students and teachers and inspected the educational and hostel facilities. He reviewed the condition of the infrastructure and stressed the importance of providing a conducive learning environment and adequate residential facilities for students.

The Chief Secretary also visited the BRO Cafeteria at Mukleb and appreciated the efforts being made to facilitate travellers and personnel in the region.

During his visit to Lukung, he inspected the Weaving Centre established by the Indian Army under the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP). He interacted with local artisans, reviewed the pashmina weaving activities being undertaken at the centre, and appreciated the initiative's role in promoting traditional crafts, generating livelihood opportunities, and empowering local communities.

Continuing his tour, the Chief Secretary visited Yourgo-Phobrang and Mann-Merak, where he met public representatives and residents to discuss local developmental issues and aspirations. He assured them that their concerns would be addressed through coordinated efforts of the administration.

At Government Higher Secondary School, Chushul, he inspected the school infrastructure and hostel facilities and interacted with students and staff. He also held discussions with local public representatives regarding the developmental needs of the area and the delivery of essential services.

The visit concluded at the Rezang La War Memorial, where the Chief Secretary paid tribute to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the 1962 Indo-China War. He honoured their courage, valour, and dedication, remembering their invaluable contribution to safeguarding the nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The visit provided an opportunity to review ongoing development projects, assess public infrastructure, and engage directly with local communities across the strategically important Changthang region.

The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Secretary, School Education Department, Bhanu Prabha; Deputy Commissioner, Changthang, Nitish Rajora; Superintendent of Police, Changthang; Chief Engineers of PDD and PWD, Ladakh; Director, Health Services, Ladakh; and other district and sub-divisional officers and officials.
