Adbee Markaz Kamraz observes “Fazil Kashmiri Day”
Soz, Mir emphasize on discovering literary treasures of Kashmiri language

Srinagar, July 11 (Scoop News) – To observe the seventh death anniversary of noted poet, writer and teacher Late Fazil Kashmiri, Adbee Markaz Kamraz in collaboration with Fazil Memorial Trust organised a function today at Radio Kashmir Srinagar auditorium. Member Parliament Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz was chief guest on the occasion while as minister for agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir was the guest of honour.
Noted poet and author Dr Farooq Fayaz presented a paper on life and literary contributions of Late Fazil Kashmiri. Terming Late Fazil Kashmiri’s poetry as classic form of folk poetry, Dr Fayaz said through the famous poems like “Pahel koer,” “Krala koer,” and “dubae bai,” Late Fazil Kashmiri aesthetically gave voice to the feelings, hardships and aspirations of the ordinary people of our society. Noted broadcaster and poet Farooq Nazki in his speech said Fazil Kashmiri has left behind a rich treasure of Kashmiri literature which will continue to be the inspiration and guiding force for the young lovers of Kashmiri literature.
In his address, Prof Soz while hailing the literary contributions of Fazil Kashmiri, underscored the need to identify and propagate the literary contributions of those poets of Kashmiri language, which for various reasons are in oblivion. “We have to discover all the literary treasures which are not known as yet, and Adbee Markaz Kamraz has to play an important role in this mission,” he stressed. “I will be always ready to help you in this noble work,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion Ghulam Hassan Mir said Fazil Kashmiri was bestowed by Almighty with unique intelligence and expression. “Few poets of Kashmiri language have such magnetic style of conveying the message,” he said. Saying that the poetry of unsung poets of Kashmiri language need to be brought to fore, he said Adbee Markaz Kamraz has to play a leading role in these efforts. Mir emphasised the need of cooperation amongst the literary fraternity. Mir also stressed to simplify the script of the Kashmiri language so that it becomes easier for the young students to learn their mother tongue.
Director Radio Kashmir Srinagar Javid Iqbal and President AMK Dr Aziz Hajni also spoke on the occasion. Dr Hajni sought help from political and public quarters to ensure introduction of Kashmiri language in secondary classes.
In the function annual “Fazil Kashmiri Awards” were also give away. This year’s awards were presented to Bashir Ahmad Bashir, Farooq Nazki and Dr Rafeeq Masoodi for their exceptional contributions in the fields of media, art, poetry and literature.
In the mesmerising “Mehfil-e mousiqi” segment of the function, prominent singer Gulzar Ahmad Ganai and young singer Shazia Bashir gave rendition to “kalam-e Fazil Kashmiri”.
Besides prominent litereteurs Prof Rahman Rahi, Muhammad Yousuf Taing, Aga Ashraf Ali, Prof Muhammad Zaman Azurdah, Qazi Ghulam Rasool, Qazi Muhammad Amin, Rafiq Raz and Rukhsana Jabeen, a galaxy of poets and writers attended the function. The proceedings were conducted by poet and writer Ghulam Nabi Shakir.
