CEC Kargil visits Brako village following brown bear attack;
assures immediate measures for public safety

Kargil, July 06 (Scoop News)- Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today visited Brako village in Sankoo Sub-Division following recent incidents of brown bear attacks that have created fear and panic among the local residents.

During the visit, the villagers informed the CEC that a brown bear had entered the premises of the Government Middle School, Brako, during the night, raising serious concerns about the safety of students and staff. They also apprised him that the bear had attacked livestock in he village on multiple occasions, leaving residents frightened and reluctant to carry out their routine agricultural activities due to the constant threat of further attacks.

Taking serious note of the situation, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon assured the villagers that the LAHDC Kargil would extend all possible support to address their concerns. He directed the concerned officers of the Wildlife Department to take immediate and effective measures to prevent further wildlife attacks, ensure the safety of the local population, and provide all necessary assistance in accordance with the established norms.

During the interaction, the villagers submitted a memorandum highlighting their concerns and demanding urgent intervention to safeguard lives, livestock, and agricultural activities in the area.

The officials of Government Middle School, Brako, also submitted a memorandum seeking urgent infrastructure upgrades to ensure the safety and welfare of students.

The Chief Executive Councillor gave a patient hearing to all the issues raised and assured that the genuine demands of both the villagers and the school administration would be taken up on priority. He reiterated that every possible effort would be made to strengthen public safety, improve school infrastructure, and ensure that the people of Brako receive the necessary support from the concerned departments.
