| Reconstitution of J&K Media Accreditation Committee delayed | | 
Srinagar/Jammu, July 08 (Scoop News)- The reconstitution of the 2026–2028 Jammu & Kashmir Media Accreditation Committee (JKMAC) has reportedly been delayed, resulting in uncertainty over the renewal of accreditation cards for journalists across the Union Territory.
According to sources, the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) is presently engaged in the required inter-departmental consultations before the committee can be formally constituted. The procedural process has consequently delayed the official notification of the new JKMAC for the 2026–2028 terms.
With the committee yet to be reconstituted, the processing of fresh and renewed media accreditations for journalists from both the Jammu and Srinagar divisions has also been held up.
Members of the media fraternity are awaiting the issuance of updated accreditation cards, which facilitate access to official events, government briefings and other institutional engagements.
Sources in the administration indicated that the delay is procedural in nature and linked to the completion of mandatory consultations among the concerned departments before the committee is formally notified.
Journalists have expressed hope that the government will complete the process at the earliest to ensure the timely renewal of accreditation and avoid inconvenience to media professionals performing their duties across Jammu and Kashmir.
The Jammu & Kashmir Media Accreditation Committee is responsible for examining applications and granting accreditation to eligible journalists in accordance with the prescribed guidelines issued by the Department of Information and Public Relations.
