Administrative Secretary, Social & Tribal Welfare Department Holds Consultative Meeting
with Civil Society Organisations

Leh, July 17 (Scoop News)-The Administrative Secretary, Social & Tribal Welfare Department, UT Ladakh, chaired a consultative meeting with representatives of various Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to strengthen collaboration in the planning and implementation of social welfare initiatives across the Union Territory.

During the meeting, the Administrative Secretary highlighted that the Department is implementing a number of welfare programmes and schemes for different sections of society. While these initiatives have achieved significant outcomes, many continue to function in isolated pockets.

Emphasising the need for greater convergence, the Secretary underlined the importance of developing measurable outcomes, ensuring wider community participation, and adopting a participatory approach in the planning and execution of welfare programmes.

The CSOs were invited to submit proposals based on their respective areas of expertise, identifying local needs, innovative interventions, and community-driven solutions. The Department will examine these proposals with a view to aligning them with existing government schemes and programmes, thereby enhancing their reach, effectiveness, and sustainability.

The meeting also deliberated on the creation of a common platform for Civil Society Organisations to facilitate greater coordination, knowledge sharing, and collective action. Such a platform is envisioned to strengthen partnerships among organisations, minimise duplication of efforts, and foster a more integrated approach towards addressing social and developmental challenges in Ladakh.

In addition, a proposal was discussed to institute an initiative for identifying and celebrating Women of Excellence from across Ladakh. The initiative aims to recognise women who have made outstanding contributions in diverse fields such as education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, social service, sports, culture, environmental conservation, and community leadership. The proposed recognition seeks to honour inspiring role models and encourage greater participation of women in the socio-economic development of the region.

The Civil Society Organisations appreciated the Department's initiative in fostering an inclusive dialogue and expressed their commitment to working in close partnership with the Government. They welcomed the opportunity to contribute towards policy planning and programme implementation through a collaborative and participatory framework.
