| Administrative Secretary Nidhi Malik Reviews Facilities and Rehabilitation Services | | at District De-Addiction Centre, Kargil |
Leh, July 27 (Scoop News)-The Administrative Secretary, Social & Tribal Welfare Department, UT Ladakh, Ms. Nidhi Malik, IAS visited the District De-Addiction Centre (DDAC), Kargil, to review the functioning of the Centre and assess the facilities and services being provided for the prevention, treatment, counselling, and rehabilitation of individuals affected by substance abuse.
During the visit, the Administrative Secretary inspected the available infrastructure and reviewed the medical and rehabilitation facilities at the Centre. She took an overview of the bedding arrangements, medical assessment facilities, counselling services, and other support systems available for the beneficiaries undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.
Ms. Nidhi Malik, IAS emphasized the importance of providing a safe, supportive, dignified, and conducive environment to individuals receiving treatment at the Centre. She appreciated the efforts being made by the DDAC team towards addressing the growing challenge of substance abuse and strengthening drug demand reduction and rehabilitation services in the district.
The visit also provided an opportunity to review the ongoing awareness and outreach activities undertaken by DDAC Kargil. These include counselling and awareness sessions in educational institutions, community outreach programmes, hotspot visits, door-to-door awareness campaigns, public pledge programmes, rallies, workshops, seminars, and IEC activities. The importance of coordinated efforts among the DDAC, Police Department, religious organizations, educational institutions, and other stakeholders was also highlighted.
The Administrative Secretary stressed the need for proper documentation of awareness activities and rehabilitation outcomes. She emphasized maintaining accurate and measurable records of programmes, beneficiaries, follow-up activities, and success stories of recovered individuals so that the impact of counselling, treatment, and rehabilitation services can be effectively assessed.
The visit concluded with directions to continue strengthening the institutional mechanisms, counselling services, rehabilitation support, community outreach, and preventive interventions against substance abuse. The DDAC team reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality treatment and rehabilitation services and working towards a Drug-Free Ladakh.
