| Heartfelt Tributes Paid to Amar Balidani Pt. Tika Lal Taploo, Pt. Prem Nath Bhat and Other Martyrs | |
Jammu, September 14 (Scoop News)-A memorial meeting was organised to pay heartfelt tributes to Amar Balidani Pt. Tika Lal Taploo, Pt. Prem Nath Bhat and all other martyrs, including the brave personnel of the security forces, who laid down their lives for the unity, integrity and security of the nation.
The meeting was largely attended by people from all walks of life, social activists, office-bearers of various organisations and BJP Karyakartas from the State, District, Mandal and Booth levels. At the beginning of the programme, two minutes of silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed martyrs.
Sh. Ashok Koul, Organising General Secretary, BJP J&K, UT & Ladakh, was the Chief Guest. Sh. Ajay Bharti, spokesperson, former MLC and member of the BJP J&K Core Group; Sh.Hira lal Bhat Seh-prabhari BJP KDD,Sh. Ashok Braroo, senior RSS activist; and Sh. Rajiv Pandita, District President, BJP Kashmir Displaced District (KDD) shared the dice.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Ashok Koul recalled his close association with Amar Balidani Pt. Tika Lal Taploo and said that despite being a senior advocate, Taploo Ji always preferred serving the needy and underprivileged over personal material gains. Recalling the dark night of 19 January 1990, Koul said that he had witnessed those difficult circumstances himself and criticised the then government headed by Dr. Farooq Abdullah for, as he put it, remaining a mute spectator when the situation was deteriorating. He appealed to the community to remain united, fight for its genuine causes and firmly challenge what he described as the false narrative being propagated by the National Conference.
Sh. Ajay Bharti, while paying rich tributes, described Pt. Tika Lal Taploo as a symbol of resilience, courage and perseverance, who never surrendered in the face of adversity. He criticised the post-1947 political rulers of J&K for failing to pursue inclusive politics and alleged that the minority Hindu community was subjected to discrimination over the decades.
Sh. Hira Lal Bhat, Seh-Prabhari, BJP KDD, recalled his long association with Amar Balidani Pt. Prem Nath Bhat and Pt. Tika Lal Taploo. He said that Pt. Prem Nath Bhat was an intellectual and prolific writer who, through his articles, exposed the designs of successive governments and consistently highlighted the concerns of the displaced community. Pt. Tika Lal Taploo, he said, represented courage and action, always standing at the forefront and fearlessly raising his voice for truth and justice.
Sh. Bhat also criticised the National Conference for what he termed an attempt to mislead the people and place the entire responsibility for the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus on the then Governor Jagmohan, saying that the circumstances and events preceding and surrounding the exodus must be viewed in their complete historical context.
Sh. Ashok Braroo, senior RSS activist and ideologue, recalled the contribution and fearless public life of Pt. Tika Lal Taploo. He particularly highlighted Taploo Ji's courageous opposition to the imposition of the Emergency by the Congress government in 1975. He recalled that Taploo Ji, along with Lt. Shiban Ji Hakhoo and Lt. Madan Ji Khashoo, was jailed for raising his voice against the Emergency and defending democratic values.
In his presidential address, Sh. Rajiv Pandita, District President, BJP KDD, paid rich tributes to Pt. Tika Lal Taploo and all other martyrs. He said that KDD remains committed to following the footsteps of the martyrs and working for the welfare and betterment of the displaced community. He highlighted various activities undertaken by KDD and its grassroots workers to mitigate the difficulties being faced by community members both in Jammu and Kashmir.
The programme also featured patriotic songs and a deeply moving speech by a young girl, which touched the hearts of those present and created an atmosphere of patriotism and remembrance.
A particularly emotional moment came when Smt. Sweety Koul, Executive Member, BJP, narrated the tragic Nadimarg massacre. Her narration moved the gathering, with many visibly emotional. Chief Guest Sh. Ashok Koul thereafter felicitated the families of the victims of the Nadimarg massacre, honouring their suffering and sacrifice.
Sh. Moti Lal Bhat, General Secretary, BJP KDD, efficiently conducted the proceedings and managed the stage.
The gathering concluded with a renewed resolve to preserve the memory of the martyrs, uphold their ideals and continue the struggle for justice, dignity, security and the rightful aspirations of the displaced Kashmiri Hindu community.
