| MLA Devyani Rana Announces 11 Free Tree Saplings for Every Daughter Born in Nagrota Constituency | | 
Nagrota, September 27 (Scoop News)-On the occasion of Daughters’ Day, Nagrota MLA Devyani Rana announced a unique green initiative under which 11 tree saplings will be provided free of cost to every family blessed with a daughter in Nagrota Constituency.
Inspired by the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” Abhiyaan of the Honble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the initiative aims to create a meaningful tradition where the arrival of every daughter is accompanied by the planting and nurturing of trees.
Announcing the initiative, Devyani Rana said the thought is to celebrate the birth of every ‘Bitiya Rani’ girl child in Nagrota Constituency while simultaneously promoting environmental conservation and contributing to the vision of a greener India.
“The 11 saplings carry a special significance. Of these, 10 trees will be dedicated to the newly born daughter, while one will be under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, thereby linking the celebration of the daughter with a tribute to her mother.”
She said the idea is to create a living connection between a daughter and the natural environment around her. As the child grows, the trees planted in her name will also grow, serving as a lasting reminder of her birth and the joy she brought to her family.
“Every daughter brings new hopes, dreams and happiness into a family. We want to celebrate her arrival in a way that also creates something lasting for the future. As our daughters grow, these trees too will grow with them, symbolising life, hope, strength and a greener tomorrow,” Devyani Rana said.
Under the initiative, families in Nagrota Constituency can collect the 11 saplings from their respective Block Development Offices at the time of registration of their daughter’s birth certificate. The arrangement is intended to make the initiative easily accessible to families and encourage them to participate from the very beginning of their daughter’s journey.
Rana emphasised that the initiative is not merely about distributing saplings, but about encouraging families to plant, protect and nurture them. She said the real success of the programme would lie in ensuring that the saplings survive and grow into healthy trees over the years.
The MLA said the initiative would also help promote environmental awareness, increase green cover and encourage community participation in climate and ecological responsibility. She expressed hope that families would take pride in watching the trees grow alongside their daughters and would pass on the values of environmental stewardship to the next generation.
She further called upon families, community organisations, educational institutions, social workers and local representatives to support the initiative and help turn it into a broader people’s movement.
“Through this initiative, the birth of every daughter will also add 11 new lives to our environment thereby bringing together three important values: celebrating the girl child, empowering families to value daughters and protecting the environment.” she said.
She also stressed that celebrating daughters must translate into ensuring that every girl receives equal opportunities, education, dignity, safety and the freedom to pursue her aspirations.
“Let every daughter have 11 trees growing in her name. Let the birth of a Bitiya Rani bring not only happiness to her family, but also new life to our environment. When she looks back years from now, may those trees remind her that her arrival was celebrated with love, pride and a promise for the future,” she added.
The initiative, she said, is intended to create a simple but lasting tradition in Nagrota: every daughter welcomed with 11 trees, every family becoming a partner in environmental conservation, and every new birth contributing to a greener future.
