| NC’s ‘Indispensability Doctrine’ exposed in Assembly: G.L Raina | | Autonomy demand amounts to playing into Pakistan’s hands: Dr Abhijeet Jasrotia | 
Jammu, September 30 (Scoop News)-J&K BJP Spokespersons Girdhari Lal Raina (Former MLC) and Dr Abhijeet Jasrotia, in the presence of BJP Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, addressed a press conference at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, and launched a sharp attack on the National Conference (NC) over its renewed demand for pre-1953 autonomy and what they described as its politics of political monopoly, historical distortion and divisive constitutional demands.
Girdhari Lal Raina congratulated the BJP Legislature Party and Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma for effectively exposing during the just-concluded Autumn Session what he termed the NC’s “Indispensability Doctrine”—the long-standing projection that the NC alone can credibly represent Kashmiri interests while alternatives are either inadequate or dangerous. He said the people of J&K are now ready to break this political monopoly and expand democratic alternatives, with BJP leading that effort.
Questioning the renewed demand for pre-1953 autonomy, Raina recalled Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s 1981 statement that Article 370 was “not sacrosanct” and could be altered or abrogated under certain circumstances, besides his 1975 Accord with Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. “Why is NC whipping a dead horse?” he asked, questioning Congress and Rahul Gandhi’s support for the demand. “Does Congress now believe Nehru and Indira Gandhi were wrong?”
Dr Abhijeet Jasrotia strongly rejected the NC’s “Pyjama” controversy, terming it an attempt to defame Kashmiris. Citing Walter Roper Lawrence’s The Valley of Kashmir, he said historical accounts describe Kashmiris as having adequate fruit, cattle fodder, winter fuel and warm clothing, with living conditions in several respects better than many parts of British-ruled India. He also pointed out that the first airplane landed at Batmalu, Kashmir, in 1925, while an aircraft landed at Juhu, Mumbai, in 1928. He further said the Dogra-era currency of J&K, the Nanak Shahi, had substantial value in comparison with British Indian rupees. He termed the Pyjama allegation baseless and an insult to the self-sufficient people of Kashmir.
Jasrotia said the demand for autonomy amounts to playing into Pakistan’s hands, while the idea of a second flag and another Constitution is treasonous. He praised LoP Sunil Sharma for acting as a “real Leader of Opposition” by exposing the alleged designs of the Omar Abdullah government before the entire country. He said BJP’s protests demonstrated its commitment to one nation, one flag and one Constitution, while alleging that Congress and its INDIA alliance partners stand exposed by supporting the NC’s autonomy demand despite claiming to be protectors of the Constitution. He alleged that Congress’s pursuit of political power and dynastic politics has taken precedence over national sovereignty and security, calling support for autonomy the biggest betrayal by both Congress and NC.
Earlier, Dr. Pardeep Mahotra introduced the subject and said the NC is resorting to political diversion to hide its failures in providing effective governance, but the people of J&K will not spare it for such politics.
