| JK CPI(M)for rehabilitation of youth held up in POK | | Calls for reforms in Police, anti-graft institutions | 
Jammu,March 28 (Scoop News) -Describing corruption the biggest menace, which is eating vitals of the society, the State Secretary CPI(M) and MLA, Kulgam M. Y. Tarigami today called for stringent measures to eradicate the evil from its roots in the State.
Participating in the debate on demands of grants for various departments under the charge of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in the Legislative Assembly today, Tarigami urged for further strengthening of the anti-graft institutions to make these effective and vibrant. He also called for bringing reforms in the Police department adding that with the normalcy limping back in the State, role of J&K belt police has become much more important in tackling the law and order situation. He requested the Chief Minister to consider his suggestions given to him in a letter regarding reforms in the Police department.
Tarigami enjoined upon the Government to bring out the revised list of BPL beneficiaries immediately, which has been prepared at different levels through a fresh survey adding that there should be no further delay on this account. He asked the Government not to adopt norms fixed by the Planning Commissions for BPL categories adding that the State must adopt its own standards in this regard as per the local requirements and needs. “This will be in the overall benefit of the BPL Community in the State”, Tarigami added. He also underscored the need to bring all the departments under e-tendering system to bring more transparency and accountability in the overall administration.
Tarigami also highlighted the plight of the youth who are holdup in POK after crossing over LOC adding that proposed rehabilitation policy in this regard should be implemented without any delay, after simplifying it suitably. He urged the need to take up the rehabilitation issue with the Central authorities for its early implementation, which he said, was very essential for the peace process. He also urged for implementation of the recommendations of two committees which had been constituted to examine revocation of APSPA from various parts of the State adding that time has now come for phased revocation of AFSPA and other concerned laws.
Tarigami demanded increase in the stipend/honorarium of SPO to make their life comfortable adding that employees of SRTC who have opted for VRS should be given their dues without any delay.
