PDP holds impressive interaction with Kashmiri Pandit leaders
Mufti exhorts KPs to play important role in on going transformation process in J&K
Jammu, April 22 (Scoop News) - Reiterating resolve of his party to facilitate honourable return of Kashmiri Pandit migrants to their native places, patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that this superior intellect community has to play an important role in on going transformation process in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing an impressive interactive meeting with representatives of various Kashmiri Pandit organizations from different parts of Jammu region, Mr Sayeed sought support and cooperation of the Kashmiri Pandit community to change the present system. “PDP has already started the process of transformation to change destiny of the people of this State”, he said, adding, “I want your role in the process of transformation and you have to be with us in our efforts to establish a new system in the State”.

He recalled contribution of Kashmiri Pandits leaders especially Sham Lal Saraf, P N Bajaj, Kashyap Bandu, D P Dhar and others in strengthening democratic system in Jammu and Kashmir.


“Aim of PDP is not just to attain the power but our ultimate goal is to change destiny of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to establish a system where justice will be given to all sections of the society”, he said and exhorted the displaced community to come forward and join PDP’s campaign to change the system. “You have to be instrumental in the process of transformation”, he told the gathering.


“It was my desire to hold such an interactive session to meet with Kashmiri Pandits living in different areas of Jammu”, he said and termed today’s interaction was a good beginning. “Return of Kashmiri Pandits to their native places in Kashmir Valley is must to maintain the ethnicity and diversity of Kashmiri culture”, he maintained and reiterated his party’s solve to facilitate honourable return of the community. “It is my desire to bring back all Kashmiri Pandits who have left their homes and hearths two decades back”, he announced, adding, “PDP wants that Kashmiri Pandits should return to their native places with dignity and honour”.


The former Chief Minister listed various steps which were taken during PDP led regime to solve misery of displaced Kashmiri Pandits. He said that comprehensive project was started by the PDP led government for the beautification of Khir Bhawani temple in Kashmir Valley.


Highlighting achievements of PDP led regime in the State, he reminded that there was total chaos and confusion in the state when PDP led regime was formed in the year 2002. “Through our visionary policies and programmes, PDP led regime has changed political discourse of the state”, he said and added that it was all due to the result of the policies of the party that peace was established in the state during that period.


“There was a sense of fear and insecurity among the people when PDP led regime was formed”, he recalled and added that through its pro-peace agenda PDP had not only created a sense of security among the people but also restored dignity of the common masses.


Speaking on the occasion, former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beig said that holding interactive dialogue was a cultural necessity and there was a need to organize such sessions in future also. He said that problem of the Kashmiri Pandits should be solved with human approach. Beig assured the Kashmiri Pandits that their party was committed to the honourable return of KPs to their native place because they were part and parcel of the Kashmir.


He assured that PDP would create conducive atmosphere for their return to their native places with honour and dignity. He said that without Kashmiri Pandits, Kashmir was incomplete and their return was must to restore the aged old traditions and culture. “We are very much aware that for the last 23 years displaced community has been facing lot of hardship due to their displacement from their homes and hearths", he pointed and hoped that days were not far when Kashmiri Pandits would return to their native places.


Spokesman of PDP, Dr Sameer Kaul, who was chief guest in the function exhorted the Kashmiri Pandits to strengthen hands of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for establishing lasting peace in the State. He said that only a leader like the stature of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed can solve problems of the community.
He maintained that it was need of the hour to work under the leadership of towering personality like Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to create conducive atmosphere for the return to Kashmiri Pandits to their native places with honour and dignity. Pointing towards the problems being faced by the community, he said that State Government has done nothing to solve their problems. He said that Prime Minister’s Package was also not properly utilized and the government was not serious to solve their problems.
