1,37,096 Yatris registered for Shri Amarnathji Yatra
100 Post Offices commence registration of pilgrims
Srinagar, May 15(Scoop News) – Till yesterday,One lakh and thirty seven thousand (1,37,096) Yatris had registered themselves for this year’s Yatra, of whom 70,158 have preferred the traditional Pahalgam route, while 66,911 have opted for the Baltal route. This was informed by Shri Navin K. Choudhary, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board here at Srinagar today.
While the registration for the Yatra through internet based on-line facility and through the designated bank branches had commenced from 7th May 2012, the registration through the designated 100 Post Offices began today. The Chief Executive Officer revealed that Union Ministry of Communication and Information Technology had agreed to intending Yatris registering the date and route of their pilgrimage from registration counters in 100 selected Post Offices located in seven states – Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan. The Post Offices which are providing registration facilities are located in districts Akbar Pur, Faizabad, Rosebery, Sultanpur, Bulandshar, Khurja, Mainpuri, Ghazipur, Pratapgarh, Amroha, Bijnor, Rampur, Azamgarh, Barirumpur, Gonda, Banda, Fatehpur, Mirzapur, Lal Ganj, Sitapur, Dhampur, Hardoi, Khori, Hapur, Gorahkpur in Uttar Pradesh; Betul, Chattapur, Damoh, Mandla, Sagar, Sidhi, Vidisha, Ratlam, Shajapur, Dhar, Bhind, Mandsour, Katni, Dewas, Neemuch, Morena, Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh; Dadar, Osmanabad, Sholapur, Latur, Parbhani, Satara, Nanded, Yavatmal, Dhule, Ratnagiri, Chandrapuram, Sangli, Akola, Buldhana, Amravati, Wardha in Maharashtra; Aurangabad, Gaya, Buxar, Siwan, Katihar, Jehanabad, Banka, Gopal Ganj, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Saharsa, Chapra, Samastipur, Ara and Sitamarhi in Bihar; Kheda, Mahesana, Godhra, Patan, Amroli, Junagarh, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Surindranagar, Bharuch, Valsad, Navsari, Gandhinagar, Nadiad, Dohad in Gujarat; Sangrur, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Faridkot, Gurdaspur, Patiala, Ropar in Punjab; and Sonipat, Bhiwani, Jind, Sirsa and Narnoul in Haryana. The list of bank branches are already available on the website of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board. The details of the Post Offices can also be seen on the Board’s website.
Last year, the registration facility for the annual Yatra was available through designated 149 Bank Branches and the J&K Bank’s internet based registration facility. This year, the registration facility for the Yatra is available through any of the 274 Registration Counters – 121 J&K Bank Branches, 49 YES Bank Branches, 4 Bihar Central Co-operative Bank Branches, 100 Post Offices, and through the On-line facility on J&K Bank’s website, jkbank.net.
The Board has been able to substantially expand the registration facility to a number of hitherto uncovered cities and towns. Consequently a large number of the intending Yatris will not have to travel long distances to register for the pilgrimage, Shri Choudhary said.
The designated 13 J&K Bank Branches for registering Yatris are located at Dalgate, Batamaloo, and Karan Nagar in Srinagar, Tourist Reception Centre, Bakshinagar and Gandhinagar in Jammu, Ramban, Doda, Kathua, Rajouri, Udhampur and Poonch, the CEO said.
For obtaining their Yatra Permit, the Yatris will need to submit the prescribed Compulsory Health Certificate issued by a Registered Medical Practitioner, along with the filled-in Application Form. The format of the Application Form and Compulsory Health Certificate can be downloaded from Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board’s website. The Yatris securing e-Yatra Permit via internet based registration facility available at the J&K Bank’s website will have to submit his Compulsory Health Certificate at Base Camps, Baltal or Pahalgam, and get his e-Yatra Permit stamped by Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board officials before being allowed to proceed beyond Chandanwari and Baltal, the CEO informed.
He said that the Yatri who secures a ticket to travel by helicopter is not required to separately register and obtain a Yatra Permit for undertaking the Yatra. However, Yatris who travel by helicopters need to submit their Compulsory Health Certificate before being allowed to board the helicopters. Chief Executive Officer advised that, to avoid any inconvenience, all Yatris should secure their Yatra Permit in advance and make their travel arrangements accordingly to embark on the pilgrimage on the day and from the route for which they have been registered.
