Aggressively pursue PDP’s visionary agenda; Mufti to party cadre | PDP’s roadmap is only way to establish peace: Beigh | Srinagar, June 12 (Scoop News) –Patron of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today exhorted the party workers to aggressively pursue the agenda of the party because people of the State have endorsed, from time to time, the policies and programmes of the party. He said that PDP had translated its promises into realities so people of the State have very high hopes from our party. Addressing district committee meetings of Anantnag and Kulgam districts, Mufti said that PDP, through its works during its short span of tenure, has earned credibility of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the masses were looking towards PDP to get their aspirations addressed. “People have realized that only PDP has the vision and conviction to solve their problems so they have pinned their hopes on PDP”, he said and exhorted the people to come up to the expectations of the people. “Programmes and policies of the PDP are formulated after incorporating wishes and aspirations of all regions and sub-regions of the state”, he said and emphasized on the need of properly educating the people about agenda of the party. “You have to categorically tell the people that agenda of PDP is to solve the Kashmir problem and to establish lasting peace in this region”, he told the workers and called for mobilizing public opinion in favour of PDP’s agenda. He threw lights on Self-Rule document of the party and asked the workers to educate the people about this visionary document which aimed at making Jammu and Kashmir a self reliant state besides addressing external and internal dimensions of Kashmir problem. “Politics of our party is not only to attain power. Aim of our party is to restore lasting peace in this region and to establish a system where every section of the society would get justice and equal opportunities for development and economic growth”, he said and pointed out that during its short span of three years PDP led regime had carved out a path of peace and development in the state. While reiterating that Jammu and Kashmir had become a victim of trust deficit between people of the state and rest of the country, he asserted that PDP, through its policies and programmes would remove their trust deficit. Blaming successive National Conference regimes for the prevailing trust deficit, he said that PDP will not only remove trust deficit between the people of Jammu and Kashmir and rest of the country but also take some concrete steps to strengthen relations between residents of different regions of the state”.
Speaking on the occasion, former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh said that peace process initiated by the Government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was an irreversible process and roadmap laid by his party was the only way to establish sustainable peace in the sub-continent. “It was all due to the convictions of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that the then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee had extended a hand of friendship towards Pakistan at the time when tension between the two countries was high on the borders,” he said, adding that PDP through its pro-peace polices convinced both the neighboring countries to break the ice and take some Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) for restoration of peace in this region. “Whatever steps Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had initiated for restoring peace, successive regimes at Delhi endorsed them,” he said and reiterated PDP’s commitment to work as facilitator for solution of Kashmir problem. Beigh said that with just 16 MLAs in its kitty, PDP had not only changed political discourse of the state but also restored dignity and honour of the people of state by pursuing pro-peace agenda. "The process of reconciliation and to change destiny of the people is still incomplete because the present regime during the last three and half years has failed to connect itself with the common masses", he said. Beigh reminded that after 2002, PDP had entered into alliance with Congress after formally formation of the Common Minimum Programme (CMP). “Unlike National Conference, we never compromised our agenda for the sake of power”, he said. PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, Tariq Hamid Karra, Abdul Rehman Veeri, Peer Mohammad Hussain, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, Farooq Ahmed Doru, Advocate Javid Ahmed, Mufti Mohammad Amin, Abdul Rahim Rather, Nazir Ahmed Laba, Zaffar Ullah, Farooq Ahmed Kashmiri, Master Sanaullah, Yasmin Akther, Mansoor Hussain Zarger, Matin Ahmed, Imran,S K Raina, R K Pardeshi and others also spoke on the occasion. ... |
