State Judicial Academy enlightened advocates on professional ethics and conduct
Jammu,September 1 (Scoop News) - In a simple but impressive function, Jammu and Kashmir State Judicial Academy under the guidance and instructions of Justice M.M. Kumar, Chief Justice (Chief Patron, State Judicial Academy) and Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir, Judge, Incharge, State Judicial Academy held oath taking ceremony and distribution of Advocates’ license in the State Judicial Academy’s complex, Jammu for the new entrants to the legal profession.

The function was presided over by Abdul Wahid, Director, J&K State Judicial Academy. Before delivery of enrolment certificates (Advocates’ license) to the 45 Advocates of Jammu province, they were administered oath by the Director, State Judicial Academy.

The function was attended amongst other by Rakesh Sagar Jain, Registrar Judicial, and Amit Kumar Gupta, Joint Registrar, High Court wing, Jammu The proceedings were conducted by Anop Sharma, Munsiff attached with the State Judicial Academy.

Earlier also, similar function was conducted by the State Judicial Academy at Srinagar in the month of August and 14 Advocates of Kashmir province were administered oath and enrolment certificates distributed.

In his address, Abdul Wahid, Director, J&K State Judicial Academy congratulated newly enrolled Advocates and welcomed them to the fraternity of legal profession. He enlightened them on the professional ethics and conduct. He exhorted the newly Advocates to imbibe ethical values both in private and public life and urged them to conduct themselves in the court during proceedings in the dignified manner, maintain the decorum of the Court and assist the court honestly and truthfully to the best of their knowledge and capacity in the dispensation of justice as the justice delivery system is incomplete without the assistance of the lawyer to the court. He told the newly Advocates that an advocate is not a free man to do whatever he likes after obtaining license to practice. There are certain duties and responsibilities cast upon them by the statute as to the manner in which they should conduct themselves as a professional lawyer. Their conduct, discipline, rights and duties are regulated by a Statute known as Advocates Act, 1961 and the Rules framed thereunder.
