Kashmiri Pandits warn self immolation

Jammu,September 5(Scoop News) - Living in broken down circumstances across the J&K state thousands of displaced Kashmiri Pandit families distressed and unhappy over the upshot of lethargic and indifferent attitude of present both state as well as centre governments towards the community at large. While showed their resentment over the present crisis countenance and tolerate by the community after their unfortunate exodus from the valley

Hundreds of KP's assembled at Jagti township ten km from Jammu city urged and stress upon the both governments to mitigate the sufferings of the community at war footing basis without any further delay.

They are demanding the enhancement of cash relief,the protestors warned self immolation in case the demand was not settled within days. They accused the Government of adopting delaying tactics and misleading the relief holders on the issue.The indefinite fast of relief holders demanding enhancement of cash relief continued at Jagti township today. The condition of one fasting KP youth deteriorated at Jagti yesterday and he was shifted to Government Medical College Hospital for treatment.The camp inmates alleged none from the administration visited the township.


Meanwhile, Panun Kashmir chairman Dr Ajay Chrungoo while taking the Government to task warned it of serious consequences if it does not change its rigid attitude towards the displaced people. He warned that the entire community will come on roads in case the genuine demands of relief holders and Jagti inmates were not settled.

PK President Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo while condemning the Monday's police action at Jagti asked the Government not to test the patience of displaced Pandits and take an immediate decision regarding relief enhancement.

JKVM leader Ashok Kangan, INTUC national secretary, P N Pandita, Samaj Wadi Party leader Inder Ji Labroo, AMCCC chairman Ajay Bharti, Tope Sherkhania Welfare Committee representative, Shiban Ji said that Government was provoking migrants to resort to agitation by adopting a rigid attitude towards their demands.


K K Khosa and Prof A N Sadhu, while expressing their full support to relief holders in their present struggle asked the Government to desist from using force against the migrants peacefully fighting for their demands.


Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Deputy Speaker Sartaj Madni and former Minister and MLA Bijebehara, Abdul Rehman Veeri, INTUC national secretary, P N Pandita, Kashmiri Pandit Sabha chief, K K Khosa, Panun Kashmir chairman, Dr Ajay Chrungoo, PK president, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo and JKVM senior leader Ashok Kangan have held Government responsible for the yesterday's Jagti episode.


Meanwhile president YAIKS, R K Bhat while addressing the protestors at Press Ckub,Jammu said that the Pandit youth have now lost all patience and they can’t tolerate any further delay in implementation of the package. He demanded that Government should immediately issue appointment orders for over 1500 posts from the waiting list candidates for de-reserved and non joining posts.

The demonstration among others was addressed by H N Jattu of AIKPC, A K Raina, Usha Tickoo and Aryan Ramesh of AIKS, Comrade Mohan Lal and Kuldeep Pandita of J&K Thinkers Forum.
