Defence correspondents course - 2012 culminates at Nagrota
Jammu, September 20 (Scoop News)- In an valedictory function at Nagrota, Directorate of Public Relations and White Knight Corps bid farewell to the 30 Journalists of one month long Defence Correspondents’ Course (DCC-2012) today.

A group of thirty journalists representing various prestigious media houses from all over the country along with conducting officer Group Captain TK Singha, VSM began their course for Naval Leg at Kochi on 16 Aug 2012. After one week they were given an insight view of life of Air Force at Pathankot air base and Army life in Mamun Cantonment.

The most interesting part of Forward Area Tour was started on 13 September 2012. They were given a chance to see LC fence, to stay in bunker to feel the life of soldiers on border areas. The team visited Corps Battle School , Sarol in order to witness the orientation training of soldiers who are newly inducted into the Corps Zone. They also visited forward posts on the Line of Control to witness first hand, the manner in which the troops operate in an LC scenario. They were shared the hardship and privation with the soldiers on the forward posts. Thereafter they visited various goodwill projects undertaken by the Army. The team also witnessed the cross border trade and bus service at Chakan-de-Bagh before being came back to Nagrota garrison for their valedictory function.


Brigadier Sunil Bhandari of White Knight Corps delivered the opening address & interacted with the course participants at Nagrota. The Chief Guest of the occasion Shri Sitanshu Kar, Additional Director General (Media & Communication) Principal Spokesperson of Hon’ble Raksha Mantri awarded the certificates to the participants and emphasized on positive and factual reporting on defence matters. He also thanked to PRO(Defence) Jammu, Information Warfare branch of Northern Command and White Knight Corps for their whole hearted support for Forward Area Tour. He also thanked the Army, Air Force and Navy for their support for conducting this DCC-2012 smoothly.

Before the function, Lt Gen AS Nandal, GOC White Knight Corps called on Shri Kar. They discussed on various security and defence publicity related matters. Shri Kar also thanked the GOC for his whole hearted support for the DCC-2012.
