Rich tributes were paid to Maharaja Hari Singh | | Jammu, September 22 (Scoop News)-Duggar Vikas Manch paid rich tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh on his 117th Birth Anniversary at his Statue at Tawi Bridge.
The function was presided over by Let. Gen. L.P. Sadhotra,( First Director General Medical Services of the State, Army). The presidents of all the prominent Sabhas and Social Organizations of the State joined to pay homage to Maharaja Hari Singh.
The program started with a Hawan Yagya.
Let. Gen. Sadhotra while paying rich tributes to Maharaja highlighted the social reforms introduced and some of the Orders and Progressive Laws which were enacted by Maharaja Hari Singh within the first Five Years of his rule. On the occasion Raj Tilk, while proclaiming justice as his religion. The fact that he did not succumb to the pressure of Lord Mount Batten to accede to Pakistan and when attacked by Pakistan on 21st October 1947, he ordered Brg. Rajinder Singh with a unique and historical order “Brigadier Rajinder Singh is commanded to hold the enemy at Uri at all costs and to the last man” and it was indeed this order which has changed the history and even geography of the sub continent. Maj. Gen. Rajinder Singh Jamwal, while paying tributes to Maharaja told that the State of Jammu & Kashmir has been besieged by the blood of Dogra Warriors and we shall contribute to be one unit irrespective of cast, creed and religion. In his address Gen. Jamwal appreciated the dogra community which still remember Maharaja Hari Singh as he as has been instrumental in bringing many administrative reforms in various fields, specially in the legal system of our state as he modernised many administrative systems which shall remain relevant as he was a man of vision. Maj. Gen. Govardhan Singh Jamwal explained how British had planned to give way Jammu & Kashmir to Pakistan. If Maharaja Hari Singh did not accede to Pakistan, it was planned to annex the State through Military operation which was infact put into operation on October 1947. He told that it was Maharaja Hari Singh and his handful men who did not let Pakistan succeed in their evil designs. Today we are part of the Great Bharat because of Maharaja Hari Singh and his gallant forces. Paying homage on the occasion, Dineshwar Singh Jamwal, President of the forum in his inaugural address highlighted the shocking fact that J&K State did not even bothered the Day Maharaja Hari Singh Expired, 26th April 1961, as State Flag was not lowered on that fateful day and the Radio Station kept on playing the songs and the State Flag kept on fluttering. He told that the students who demonstrated on that day were fired upon and arrested as the situation was provocative as the State Government maliciously refused to share the grief of Dogras. Abdul Gani Kohli, President of Jammu Muslim Co-ordination Committee, I.G.P. (Retd.) Chaman Lal Banal, Dr. Ramakant Dubey, President of V.H.P. J&K State, Prof. Devinder Sharma also paid their rich tributes to Maharaja and appreciated his role in bringing reforms in various fields. It was decided that Duggar Vikas Manch shall organise a function to celebrate the Accession Day like previous years on 26th October, the day J&K State acceded with the Union of India and shall also pay homage on 27th October at the function organised by J&K Ex. Service’s league at Brg. Rajinder Singh Chowk. Prominent amongst the Presidents and other office bearers of various other organizations who were present on the occasion included B.S. Jamwal, (Retd.)
