NC-Congress Coalition has no differences : Rather
Inaugurates Treasuries at Awantipora, Achabal
Srinagar,October 24(Scoop News)-The Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs Abdul Rahim Rather has said that there is no difference of opinion between the coalition partners on the issue of 73rd amendment. He said both the partners have mutually agreed to incorporate all such clauses of 73rd amendment of Indian constitution in the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act Which will be in the interest of the people of J&K.
While replying queries of media persons on the side lines of the inaugural functions of government Treasuries Awantipora and the Government Treasury Achabal, Anantnag today Rather said that the issue of 73rd amendment has been resolved mutually by the coalition partners and now there is no difference of opinion in this regard. He said though due to special constitutional guarantees, the 73rd amendments of the Indian Constitution cannot be applied directly in the J&K Panchayati Raj Act, there is no restriction incorporating good clauses of the amendment in the State Act. He said both the coalition partners now have no difference incorporating good clauses of the 73rd amendment in the J&K Panchayati Raj Act.
Replying to another query, Rather made a fervent appeal to the employees unions to shun path of confrontation for resolving the their demands adding that most of their demands have already being fulfilled and other demands are active consideration of the government. He said government is committed to resolve the genuine demands of the employees with open mind.
Regarding LPG issue, the Minister said that the group of Ministers of the State have recently met the Prime Minister of India and sought special package to lift the cap on subsidized cylinders keeping in view the harsh winter and difficult topographical condition of the State.
Rather said that it is a government policy to reach out to the people to provide them better services and the opening of government Treasuries at Awantipora and Achabal is a sequel in this direction. With the opening of theseTreasuries the totalnumber of Treasuries in the Kashmir has reached to 68 in Kashmir and 123 in the State. He said opening of these Treasuries will ease functioning of the 41 drawing and disbursing officers who till now had to travel long distances for cross check of their accounts. A large number of pensioners, widows and handicapped persons of these areas will also get respite from travelling long distances to get their monthly pensions.
Legislators, Zahoor Ahmed Mir, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, Principal Secretary Finance, Iqbal Khanday, Director General Accounts and Treasuries, Magotra, District Development Commissioner, Pulwama Shafat Noor, District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Farooq Ahmed Shah, Joint Director Accounts and Treasuries, Altaf Hussain Mirza, Prominent Citizens and the concerned officers of Accounts and Treasuries departments were present on these occasions.
