JK CM asks Oil Companies to enhance supply of LPG cylinders
Srinagar, October 25(Scoop News) Giving strict directions to oil companies to enhance per day availability of gas cylinders, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday directed the Oil companies to time bound completion of Gas-connection papers of consumers and take urgent steps to supply cylinders to people at their homes.

The Chief Minister also directed for utilizing fullest capacity of LPG bottling plant at Pampore and ensuring delivery of gas cylinders to the consumers smoothly. He directed for keeping non subsidized LPG cylinders available to the people without any stipulation or pre-condition for obtaining these cylinders.

“It should be the option of the consumer to obtain either subsidized or non-subsidized LPG cylinders as per his wish” he said asking LPG companies not to put any condition on this count on the supply of these cylinders.

Taking stock of the supply and demand of LPG cylinders in the State at a joint meeting of high level state officers and representatives of oil companies here, the Chief Minister said that the government will not tolerate any false scarcity or black marketing of LPG cylinders in the State. He told Oil companies to sensitize dealers in this regard and ask them redouble their efforts to complete the papers provided by the consumers for obtaining new connections or transferring their existing ones on fast track.

“Smooth availability of LPG cylinders to the consumers should be made bench mark of the functioning of supply system by oil companies” he said asking them to work out immediate mechanism of providing LPG cylinders to the consumers at their homes. “Home delivery should be ensured within the shortest possible time” he told oil companies asking them to take necessary steps in this direction. He said that consumers should get hassle free supply of LPG cylinders at their homes as is prevalent elsewhere in the Country.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the supply and stock position of essential commodities including Kerosene Oil and other fuel.

The Chief Minister was informed that state possess adequate stock of essential commodities and buffer stocks have been raised in remote and far flung areas to meet the requirements during winter months.

The Minister for CA&PD Qamar Ali Akhoon, Chief Secretary Madav Lal, Principal Secretary Finance Iqbal Khanday, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister B. B. Vyas, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Asgar Samoon, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Pradeep Gupta, Secretary CAPD Mohammad Abbas Dar, Senior officers and representatives of various oil companies were present in the meeting.
