PK demands representation to Pandits in state resources

Jammu, October 28(Scoop News)- Panun Kashmir today demanded an equal and proportionate representation to the Pandits in the distribution of state resources and overall employment opportunities available in the state.

Panun Kashmir leaders including Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir ,Virender Raina, National Spokesperson-PK, J.L.Kaul, Vice President, Upinder Kaul, General Secretary, Kamal Bagati, N.M.Gadroo, Vijay Qazi, Ramesh Kaul, P.N.Pandita, Sameer Bhat in a meeting said that the Kashmiri Pandit community has an equal right over the opportunities and resources in the state but it has been successively ignored in the matters of employment and proper economic rehabilitation. The victimized community of Pandits strongly feels that the powers that be are hostile to their interests in their own state. The number of the Kashmiri Pandit employees in the government and semi-government sectors has dwindled to the lowest and the youth of the community are forced to leave the state in search of employment. There seems a subtle move to ensure complete cleansing of the Pandit community from the state. We strongly urge the government to take massive confidence building measures in terms of employment and job-oriented educational opportunities in the state for the displaced community on an urgent and priority basis.

They said that the relief and economic rehabilitation of the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community is the primary responsibility of the State and the Central government. The state government has given a constant feeling to the displaced population that it is non-serious regarding the issues of the community. The relief holders have been driven to destitution due to the callous attitude of the government regarding the enhancement of the relief. The displaced community is eagerly awaiting the outcome of the 29th October when the decision regarding enhancement of relief is going to be taken. The decision to increase the relief, having already been taken by the state cabinet, is now being put before the Central government for the final decision. Panun Kashmir would intensify its struggle on the subject if the demand regarding enhancement of relief is not taken to the satisfaction of the displaced community. We are in constant touch with the leaders sitting on ‘dharna’ and unanimously agreed to broad base the struggle of the community in the coming days.
