Jammu migrants treated as B-grade citizens:Beigh | | Jammu, November 10 (Scoop News) – Chairman of Doda migrant committee Ghulam Mohi-u-Din Beigh today said that Jammu migrants are treated as B-grade citizens and even ignored the directions made by the Supreme court. He demanded rehabilitation of the Doda migrant and other migrants of Jammu region at par with Kashmiri migrants.
Addressing the protestors gathered at Mubarak Mandi and held a demonstration on Saturday,. Mohi-u-Din Beigh said that Jammu migrants are reeling under the serious hardships due to the political victimization. He said we were forced to migrate from our villages by the Pakistani sponsored terrorism because we acted against them in 1990 and after migration our people took shelter in Reasi, Udhampur, Samba, Kathua and Jammu districts, while stating that most of them are illiterate and are living under pathetic condition. “We have been staging protest dharna here at Mubarak Mandi continuously for the last eight years demanding relief at par with Kashmiri Pandit Migrants but nothing has been done so far. State government has forgotten and left us to face difficulties,” said Ghulam Beigh.
Addressing the protesting migrants General Secretary of J&K Tehreek-e-Insaf, Ravinder Raina said that there are about ten thousands migrant families in Jammu region and majority of them belonged to erstwhile Doda district, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri and Poonch districts. He said these people were forced to migrate by the terrorists because they refused to join hands with terrorists and instead of facilitating these migrants our government discriminated them. Raina said it is shocking that on one hand government has drafted policy for those who took guns in hands killed on the direction of Pakistan and on other hand government totally ignored all these people who fought against the terrorist in the interest of nation. He demanded the justice with Jammu migrants before the start of assembly session otherwise they will be forced to take organize massive protests in front Civil secretariat. Jodh Ram, Baldev Singh, Swami Raj, Som Nath and Leela Devi also addressed the migrants.
Earlier the protesters were shouting slogans against the government and in favour of their demands, Doda migrants gathered at Mubarak Mandi and held a demonstration on Saturday. Large number of Doda migrants protested in view of their long pending demand to treat Jammu migrants at par with Kashmir migrants. They alleged that discrimination with Jammu migrants resulted starvation for them as they no food, no shelter and no clothes. ... |
