Muharram arrangements finalized in Kashmir
Akhoon, Ruhullah direct div adm to gear up for smooth conduct of processions
Srinagar, November 13 (Scoop News)- Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution and Transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon today directed divisional administration of Kashmir Valley to put in all possible efforts for ensuring smooth and peaceful Muharram by providing essential commodities, power and drinking water supply, medicare, firewood and other basic needs to the people particularly Shia dominated areas of the region.
The Minister was addressing a divisional level officers meeting here today, attended by Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, Qadri Hafizullah, Director Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, Joint Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Fayaz Ahmad, Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar, Bukhari, Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir, Anees Ahmad, Superintending Engineer Drainage Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Er. Fida Hussain and representatives of various Shia Associations of the Valley.
The Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Science & Technology, Aga Syed Ruhallah was also present on the occasion.
Akhoon announced one Kg sugar additional quota for Shia dominated areas of the Valley.
He directed for market checking so that profiteers are not allowed to overcharge consumers while purchasing essential commodities during the auspicious occasion of Muharram.
Aga Ruhullah on this occasion said that under the directions of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, all the Deputy Commissioners have been provided required funds as per past practice for making arrangements for smooth conduct of Muharram-ul-Harram. He asked officers to gear up their men and machinery to provide necessary infrastructure and other necessary facilities to people particularly living in Shia dominated areas of the Valley.
Representatives of Shia community present in the meeting put forth various demands and appealed for fulfilling aspirations of people.
The dignitaries assured that Government will leave no stone unturned in providing all necessary amenities to people so that the holy month of Muharram particularly the auspicious days pass smoothly and people are satisfied with the arrangements made by Government functionaries.
