CA Leh organized talent hunt program on Ladakhi folk songs

Leh, November 19 (Scoop News)-The cultural Academy Leh today organized a talent hunt program on Ladakhi folk songs and music among the students of eleven (11) Govt. Schools of Khaltsi block including Skurbucha n and Hemis Shukpachan at Khaltsi Residential School. As per the judgement eight winners including 6 boys and 2 girls were selected for further training with support of Cultural Academy, Leh.

Stating the main aim of holding this event, Tsewang Paljor, Special Officer for Culture said that it is an endeavour to infuse in our younger generation an interest for local folk songs and music with a vision of passing the cultural richness of the region in form of music to our posterity, thus avoiding its degeneration.
Meanwhile The poets and scholars of Leh district under the head of Prof. Jamyang Gyaltsan today convened a condolence meeting in remembrance of late Tsering Nurboo Ayu, who was an ex- teacher and a poet by nature. He has to his credit the collection of maximum sayings in Ladakhi language and original names of the villages.

In the meeting, the poets made a request to the Cultural Acadeny Leh to extend their support in publishing the huge collection of late Tsering Nurboo that would serve as a great purpose of archival material in times to come. Tsewang Paljor, Special Officer for Culture said that late Tsering Nurboo was a regular poet and had contributed a lot in preserving the Ladakhi cultural and moral values through his creative writings.
