| Pandit Kashyap Bandhu remembered on 27th Nirvaan Diwas | |  Jammu, December 18 (Scoop News) –The tallest community leader of yore was remembered on his 27th Nirvana Divas by the orphaned Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora today at Jammu. The speakers in a largely attended meeting recollected Shri Bandhuji’s contribution towards upliftment of the community when the Pandits were passing through a very lean phase in the social as well as political march way back during 1931-1948. The positive aspects of Shri Bandhujis Marg darshan in galvanizing the community’s political aspirations and emancipation of Kashmiri pundit women were recalled. Change in the dress of pandit ladies; the PUNARVIVAH of widows; Educating the girl child and her shoulder to shoulder participation in social progress was especially emphasized by women speakers.
The YOGDAAN of the dynamic leader in giving voice to the feelings of the community through establishment of: MARTAND; were praised. But the deep well of ignonimity where this people’s voice has fallen now was also lamented upon.
The political path taken by Shri. Bandhuji and his colleagues in 1937 was destined to doom not only for the community but for his own self as well was lamented upon. His intentions were highly supportive of a nationalist and secular ethos was not reciprocated by his friends.
SHRADANJALI was paid to the departed leader at JAMMU YATRI BHAVAN HARIDWAR also; where a HAVAN was performed for the peace of the departed soul.
Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir Kashyap Bandhu committee held a meeting at Jammu to commemorate the 27t th death anniversary of veteran leader Pundit Kashyap Bandhu Ji.The speakers paid rich tributes to late leader and recalled his great services to the people of the state and Kashmiri Pundit committee in particular.
Speakers recalled his monumental work in Kashmir. They said that he was selfless and devoted leader who worked for the betterment of the people.
It may be mentioned here that Pundit Kashyap Bandhu Ji. was born in March 1899. He came from a poor family of Garioo, Tral in South Kashmir. He passed his matriculation examination from Punjab University, Lahore. He left for Lahore in search for job. He joined Arya Samaj, a Hindu reform organization infused with anti-imperialist and anti-British fervour. He initiated himself as a journalist by writing for highly circulated newspaper of Daily Milap and Partap. He joined the Arya Gazette, Lahore, which was the official organ of the Arya Samaj.
