JK Govt’s performance appears only on papers: Mufti
Jammu, December 22 (Scoop News) – Patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that the present regime headed by National Conference has miserable failed to carry forward the equitable development agenda which was implemented by the previous PDP-Congress regime in the State. He said that four years performances of this government appeared only papers and nothing concrete has been done on the grounds.

Mufti was addressing a function to welcome former senior bureaucrat Mehboob Iqbal, who along with hundreds of his supporters today joined PDP. Mehboob Iqbal, a native of Bhaderwah area joined PDP along with prominent educationists, retired senior officers, Panches, Sarpanches, social workers and activists of other political parties of Bhaderwah. Hundreds of people who joined PDP along with Mehboob Iqbal expressed faith in the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehoooba Mufti.

Calling upon the new entrants to strengthen the party by spreading agenda of the party, Mufti said that change was order of the day and people of State were looking towards PDP to change the present corrupt system. “It is my desire to establish a system where every sections of the society would get justice and equal opportunities for development and economic growth”, he said and added that the agenda of the PDP was formulated by accommodating wishes and aspirations of all regions and sub-regions of the State. He said that PDP during its tenure had carved out a path of peace and development in the State by treating all regions and sub-region equally.

PDP patron recalled that during PDP-Congress regime especial attention was paid towards neglected and remotest areas. He reminded the gathering that tourist circuits to connect Bhaderwah with rest of the country were set up and separate Bhaderwah Development Authority was also constituted to establish this belt as independent tourist destination. He, however, regretted that the present regime has failed to complete the project. He expressed his concern over slow pace of work on the Bani-Basholio-Sarthal-Bhaderwah road.
“Instead of following the visionary policies which were framed by the previous PDP led regime, this government has reversed the whole process”, he said and regretted that expect promises nothing has been done on ground.

He said that environment of development created by the previous government was unfortunately wasted by the present government. It has brought to a halt the process of development and reversed the process in every sense of the word. “The people now are fed up with this governemnt, its mis-governance and the strikingly corrupt system that it has promoted, he observed and regretted that corruption was now institutionalized even at the highest levels.

Mufti, while listing achievements of the previous government said that PDP led regime had brought transparency and accountability in the governance by strengthening democratic institutions in the state. He especially mentioned that during PDP led regime more than 70,000 youth were appointed as teachers under Rebar-e-Talim (ReT) scheme and more than 30,000 Anganwari workers were also appointed. “Not only a single case of favouritism or nepotism were reported during our tenure because appointments were made with complete transparency and accountability to ensure that only deserving people would get jobs”, he said.

Welcoming hundreds of people from Bhaderwah in party fold, Mufti said that Bhaderwah which has huge tourism potential is power house of education in Jammu and Kashmir. He made especial reference of Jai Valley and other tourist destination of this belt and added that Bhaderwah is also an example of brotherhood and communal harmony.
Speaking on the occasion Mehboob Iqbal said that he has decided to join PDP due to the policies and programmes of the party. He said that people of Bhaderwah have full faith in the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti. He said that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir has proved how to deliver good governance to the people. He said that was during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that governance consciousness was generated in the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the State had unfortunately been exploited previously on emotional slogans alone without keeping pace with the requirements of development and growth that had hit the remote and the backward areas the hardest. He said the government under Mufti Mohammed Sayeed unlocked the process of development initiating a progressive agenda.

Prominent persons from Bhaderwah who joined PDP included Sher Singh Manhas, Daleep Kumar, Asgar Manhas, Chaman Lal Gupta (retd ZEO). Ghulam Rasool (retd Director Education), Nisar Ullah Haq, Narinder Kumar, Hans Raj, Sarpanch, Mohammed Amin, Mushtaq Ahmed, Suraj Parkash, (retd CEO), Darshan Singh, Shivdutt, Altaf Hussain Khan, (retd CEO), Iqbal Malik, (retd Xen), Atal Sahib (retd CEO), Sunil Dutt, (retd Tehsildar), Mohammed Hussain, Prem Nath, Dimple Kotwal, Mohammed Yousuf, Swami Raj, Mohammad Shafi, Ganesh Katal, Ramesh Kumar, P R Manhas, Nissar Ahmed, Begum Farida Salaria, Sanjeev Bhagat, Lassa Koul, Dr Raina, Rajinder Manhas, Mohammad Shafi Dar, Inayatullah and others.
