JK BJP celebrates 88th birth day of Atal Behari Vajpayee | | Jammu, December 25 (Scoop News) –The 88th birth day of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee was celebrated as Sushasan Divas (Good Governance Day) in a function held at party hqrs. on Tuesday under the leadership of State President Jugal Kishore Sharma. The highlights of the function were release of Special issue of BJP Update, felicitation of four eminent personalities for their administrative excellence and solemn pledge taken by the party activists to work for the betterment of the nation and its citizens as dream of Atalji. The programme began with the singing of a national song by children from Ved Mandir School. The eminent personalities felicitated included former Principal of Govt. Medical College, Jammu Dr. Rajinder Singh, Retd. Chairman J&K Service Selection Board Bua Ditta Bhagat, Retd. Special Secretary to Govt. Sain Dass Sharma and Retd. Chief Engineer A.S. Wazir. Jugal Kishore Sharma while speaking on the journey of Atal Behari Vajpayee from cycle to Sansad, said that the works taken into hand by him achieved the distinction of being called Yug Purush. He said the rule under Atal Behari Vajpayee was the real example of Good Governance as it witnessed unprecedented development, corruption free administration and people friendly government at the Centre. If we adopt the ideology of Atalji in our working, there can nothing be impossible. Dr. Nirmal Singh while praying for long life of Atalji said that this great RSS activist always talked of Ram Rajya, which even Gandhi also advocated for the country. He said the nation could not enjoy the good governance in initial years of Independence and till 90s as the government at the centre was mostly run by in particular family, which ruined the country. Ashok Khajuria said that whatever was done by Vajpayeeji as Prime Minister was marvellous. He recalled the visit of Atal Behari Vajpayee in Jammu in 1980 when BJP secured victory in Jammu Municipal Council elections and shared his one to one talk with Atalji. He said that difference of opinion is not bad but it should not made public. We should go to public against the parties like NC, Congress and PDP instead of raising fingers on own party men. Shamsher Singh Manhas said that the path shown by Atalji can prove to take the nation a long way as this great personality had the nation, interests of nation and common citizen in mind while taking any decision. The values induced in him as RSS man took him to new heights of social life. Prof. Dipankar Sen, HOD Economics, University of Jammu, was the invited speaker on the occasion to deliver a talk on “Good Governance and Atal Behari Vajpayee”. Drawing a comparison with the regimes of other Prime Ministers who preceded, Prof. Sen said that Vajpayee had the vision to understand that the Nehruvian model of governance had failed with the passage of time and he introduced pragmatic new concepts during his six year tenure as Prime Minister. The schemes and plans initiated by Vajpayee are still delivering benefits to the country but unfortunately the regimes which followed Vajpayee’s NDA rule have failed to carry them forward in the manner that was expected. Prof. Sen said Vajpayee was successful in whatever new plan he gave for the nation because of his commitment and firm conviction in what he believed and practised. He referred to Vajpayee’s imaginative concept of “Public Private Partnership” and successfully introduced it in different sectors during his rule. He also referred to the first ever initiative taken by any Prime Minister in Vajpayee’s rule to lay a wide network of national highway of roads. Prof. Sen said that Vajpayee believed in long term planning in the interest of nation and never gave in to the temptation to announce populist schemes simply to earn electoral benefits without futuristic gains for the nation. BJP Mahila Morcha State President Sakina Bano also spoke on the occasion and stressed on need of following the path shown by Atalji. State General Secretary Sat Sharma (C.A) conducted the proceedings of the function and District President Rajesh Gupta presented vote of thanks. Later, the BJP leaders visited Aditi Pratisthan Girls Hostel in DBN School Mubarak Mandir and had lunch with them. They also visited Bal Niketan at Ved Mandir Ambphalla and donated ration items for the children. The Mahila Morcha activists led by Sakina Bano also distributed stationary items among the poor students in Dogra Hall area of Jammu city. Similarly, leaders of BJP Sainik Cell Akhnoor also distributed sweets among the bline students at Roop Nagar, which was led by Col. Uttam Singh, Bishamber Singh and others.
