DUJ Calls for March to Parliament | | New Delhi,December 28 (Scoop News) –The Delhi Union of Journalists at an Extended Meeting today called upon members to be ready for a March to Parliament during the Budget Session to “Save the Wage Board and the Working Journalists Act”. The year-end meeting of the DUJ called for the widest possible unity for continuous agitation against the dillydallying attitude of vested interests to finish the wage board and security of service through bonded contracts. Lambasting recent attempts at press bashing and trade union bashing even in select newspapers the DUJ cautioned its members against vested managerial interests seeking to split unions. While reiterating the need for a united front on common issues and demands, it called for an intensified ‘knit journalists movement’ and `knit DUJ campaign’ starting from January 15. The meeting also resolved to extend the DUJ Press Initiative 2012 to 2013 through joint meetings. The meeting also called upon the Press Community to be cautious in trivializing or over exaggerating sensitive issues. It decided to have a DUJ Ethics Council Monitoring Committee comprising members of its Ethics Council, Gender Council and National Council in Delhi. ... |
