J&K to get two sports training Centres: Chib
New Delhi/Jammu, January 11(Scoop News) –The Union Minister of State (I/C) for Youth Affairs & Sports, Jitender Singh, today chaired a meeting here to discuss various issues regarding further streamlining of Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir.
Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, R.S.Chib, was also present.
Commissioner Secretary, Sports J&K, Bipal Pathak and Secretary Sports, Daleep Thusu, who were also present in the meeting, briefly explained various issues regarding release of budget for multipurpose hall, completion of Artificial Sythetic Footbal Turf and various proposals under consideration in the Ministry.
The Union Minister has agreed to release an amount of Rs. 6 crore for construction of multipurpose hall within weeks’ time which shall take about one year for its completion and the work stands allotted to the concerned agency.
Chib assured the meeting that the ASFT for TRC will be completed by April 2013. He discussed the issue of expenditure on account of two goodwill matches between J&K- XI and Mohan Bagan and Mohammadan Sporting Kolkatta which was held at Srinagar Baramulla & Jammu.
The Union Minister said that Ministry of Home Affairs will release required balance amount on this account. Besides, he agreed in principle for establishment of new Sports Training Centre at Srinagar and Jammu at a cost of 10 crore each. The awaited sanction of two multipurpose halls for Jammu and Kashmir provinces under the USIS for the year 2013-14 was also taken up in the meeting. However, the concerned Ministry asked for re- submission of said proposal and assured that it will be taken care of.
The Union Ministry gave nod to Artificial Synthetic Hockey Turf ground at Baramulla under NSDF against the proposal of two Artificial Sythetic Hockey Turf grounds. Besides, Panchayat Yuva Khel Kalyan Abhiyan (PYKKA) scheme of J&K State costing Rs.4 crore will also be released initially, assured the Minister.
The meeting among others was attended by Sports Secretary and senior officers of the Union Ministry.
