National Voter’s Day celebrated in Jammu division | | Jammu, January 25 (Scoop News) –Like other parts of the country, third National Voter’s Day was celebrated in all District Headquarters of Jammu division today. The District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Udhampur, Mr. P.K. Pole who was the chief guest on the occasion highlighted the importance of the day. He said that the objective of this day was to aware the general masses to increase the enrollment of voters so that maximum number of voters can participate in the electoral process. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. Surat Singh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Mr. S.S. Samyal, representative of social and Non Governmental Organizations, citizens and students in large number were present on the occasion. On the occasion, District Election Officer handed over EPICs to the electors registered in the electoral rolls for the first time. The newly entered voters were also provided badges with the inscription “Proud to be a Voter - Ready to Vote”. Later, an awareness rally comprising young students drawn from colleges and schools was flagged off by the District Election Officer from Deputy Commissioners Office complex. The students carrying placards in their hands with slogans like “ Vote a Tool That’s Most Powerful”, “ Vote to Root, Vote Also to Uproot”, “ Elect to Select Get the Most Perfect” etc passed through main locations of the Udhampur town. The District Election Officer also administered a pledge to all the participants to up hold the dignity of elections and vote in the elections without any fear, inducement or influence.
National Voters Day celebrated at Reasi, Like other parts of the country the 3rd National Voters Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Reasi, here today The District Election officer (DC) Reasi Nirmal Sharma was the Chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion the DEO highlighted the importance of the day and said that the awareness regarding the electoral process is vital for strengthening our democratic process. The EPIC were also distributed among the newly enrolled voters and a pledge was administered to them on the occasion. The function was attended by ACR Reasi, officers from various departments, representatives of various political parties, prominent citizen and young voters. Similar functions were also held at SDM office Mahore, BDO office Arnas, BDO office Pouni, and office of Naib Tehsildar Katra.
Rallies organized on National Voters Day National Voters Day was observed in Tehsil Akhnoor today. Massive rallies were organized by the students to highlight the importance of the day. Tehsil (AERO) Akhnoor, Mr. Vijay Kumar addressed the participants and, distributed EPICs to new voters.
3rd National Voters Day celebrated at Kathua To mark the 3rd National Voters Day rallies and symposium were organized at Kathua today. Hundreds of students drawn from various institutions participated in the rally which was flagged off from D C office complex by Deputy Commissioner Kathua Ms Zahida Parveen Khan, Rallies were also taken out from Ram Leela ground Kathua and women college Kathua. The students held placards with slogans like ‘Be Smart Vote smart’,’ Proud to be voter-Ready to vote. An impressive function was held at D C office Complex wherein symposium was held in which students expressed their views on the importance of National Voters Day. During the function Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Ms Zahida Parveen Khan gave away the EPICs to the newly enrolled voters. Deputy Commissioner, Kathua urged the new voters to exercise the right with responsibility. She asked the voters to strengthen the democracy by participating in the elections with zeal and enthusiasm. Later, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua gave away mementoes to the students who participated in the symposium. Celebration of National Voters Day at Ramban National Voters Day was celebrated in district Ramban in which large number of newly registered voters, representatives of political parties, prominent citizens, students of schools and colleges, Sarpanches/Panches participated. The main function was organized at community Hall Maitra Ramban where Shabir Ahmad, District Election Officer Ramban distributed EPIC’s among the newly registered voters. B.A Khan, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Ghansham Singh, Assistant Commissioner (Rev) (ERO) Ramban, Ram Rattan, Chief Planning Officer, Ramban, V.K. Soni, Chief Education Officer, Ramban, Principal Polytechnic College, Ramban Principal Hr. Sec. School, Ramban and Tehsildar, (AERO) Ramban were also present on the occasion. The District Election Officer, Ramban while speaking on the occasion threw light on the importance of national voters day. He said that as a part of summary revision of electoral rolls in the district in 163 polling stations about 10239 forms of additions, deletions and corrections were received and all the forms have been uploaded in the CEO portal. In the recent summary revision there are 6204 newly registered voters and the total number of the voters in the district after completion of this exhaustive summary revision has become 153055 in which 2113 voters are in the age group of 18-19 years. DEO asked the newly registered voters to cast their vote responsibly to strengthen the democracy. A rally was also organised on the occasion in which students carrying placards with slogans of “Proud to be a voter, “Ready to Vote” participated. A debate was also organized in which students expressed their views on the importance of the day/ A registration counter was also opened for registration for new voters as part of the continuous updation programme. Similarly, National Voters Day was celebrated at Tehsil level at Banihal, Ramsoo, Gool, Batote.
National Voters Day Celebrated in Doda DODA, JANUARY 25 - Like other parts of the state and country, National Voters day 2013 was celebrated in Doda today, District Development Commissioner Doda Mr. Farooq Ahmed Khan was the chief guest on the occasion, The main function was organized at DC office Doda where DDC addressed the New Voters/Elector registered in the District. While speaking on the occasion DDC Doda apprised the new registered voters about the aim and objectives of Election Commission of India and responsibilities of Electors. He asked the newly registered voters to use their power to vote judiciously while electing their representatives for parliament, legislative Assembly and Panchayats. He asked them to utilize their power for the development and upliftment of District, state and country. DDC also distributed Electronic Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) among the newly registered Electors in District on the occasion. He said that 518 newly registered Electors have been included in the voter lists besides EPICs were also distributed. ACR Naresh Kumar, Naib Tehsildar Election Besides other senior officers and newly registered voters attended the function.
National Voters Day observed in Samba The National Voters Day was celebrated in the Samba wherein the Electors drawn from different Blocks of District participated in a function organised here today. District Development Commissioner, Samba, Mubarak Singh was the chief guest on the occasion On the occasion, a rally was also organized by District Administration which was attended by District/Block Level Officers, Sarpanches, Panches of various Panchayats and general public especially the students who were carrying placards inscribed with slogans like “Proud to be a Voter”. The DDC while speaking on the occasion impressed upon the voters for greater participation in the elections for strengthening democracy in the State and also exhorted other stake holder to spread message for maximum participation in the Election Process so as to ensure that the Democratic System in the State and Country become stronger. On the occasion, the voters also took a Pledge to uphold the dignity of Elections and vote in the elections without any fear, inducement or influence”. Freshly enrolled voters were distributed Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) and badges inscribed with the slogan “Proud to be a voter – Ready to Vote”. Various programmes, debate and rallies were organised on the occasion in which students from various educational institutions participated to spread awareness regarding the importance of universal adult franchise. Others present on the occasion were Additional Deputy Commissioner, B.S.Jamwal, Additional Commissioner Revenue, Ashwani Khajuria, Chief Planning Officer, Sant Ram Principal, Degree College Samba, Block Development Officers, besides other officers of various departments.
GDC Poonch celebrates National Voters Day
National Voters Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Government Degree College Poonch. District Development Commissioner, Mr. Ajeet Sahu who was the chief guest highlighted the importance of vote. He said the objective of observing the day is to strengthen democracy by greater participation of people in the election process. On the occasion, Prof. Shameem Banday administered a pledge to the participants regarding use of vote in true spirit. As many as 30 EPICs were distributed on the spot among the new voters who attained the age of 18 years. Principal GDC Poonch, S. Jatinder Singh, professors and students expressed their views on the importance of the day.
