Army exchange sweets with Pak troops on Republic Day at chakan-da-bagh
White Knight corps celebrates Republic Day
Jammu, January 27(Scoop News) –The 64th Republic Day was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety by all the formations of White Knight Corps. The people of Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts took part in these celebrations at various Headquarters.

Taking the Confidence Building Measures on the Line of Control a step ahead, troops of India and Pakistan exchanged sweets on the occasion. Col PS Bal, Commanding Officer offered sweets to troops from across at 11 am today. The delegation from Pakistan was led by Lt Col Javed, Maj Yasir, who had brought sweets for the Indian troops. Both sides expressed hope that this friendly environment would be a harbinger of peace in the region.

All across the Corps zone, reflecting true Unity in Diversity, the celebrations were a portrait of perfect communal harmony, brotherhood and indicative of Khushaal Jammu – Kashmir. The celebrations were marked with hoisting of the national flag, singing of National Anthem at all places and impressive march past by smartly turned out school children in Army Goodwill Schools. This was followed by distribution of. The Alama Iqbal’s famous song, Sare Jahan Se Acha, Hindustan Hamara was also sung by the children. This immortal song has a special resonance for the urdu speaking area and its strains echoed in the backdrop. Besides the school children, the participants included prominent dignitaries, Sarpanch, Panchayat members, Zonal Educational Officer, teachers, parents of children and people from different walks of life.

In Akhnoor, on the occasion of Republic Day, Mrs Padmashree Patnaik, Chairperson, Family Welfare Organization, Crossed Swords Division visited Military Hospital, Akhnoor. She interacted with the patients and enquired about their health and welfare and distributed sweets and fruits to the ailing patients.

Mrs. Patnaik met Special Childern of the Division. She enquired about the problems faced by special children and their parents and discussed about their special needs.

At the Tehsil Office in Mahore, school children marched to the sound of drums and also presented a colorful cultural program. The salute was taken by the Shri Sher Singh, SDM Mahore after flag hosting. The Sector Commander, Rashtriya Rifles Camp, Mahore was the Chief Guest at the function. Speaking on the occasion Shri Sher Singh, SDM Mahore congratulated the local populace of Mahore and complimented the Rashtriya Rifles for carrying out relentless people friendly operations in this region. The Sector Commander, Rashtriya Rifles Camp, Mahore complimented the local populace on the occasion. The Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Sarh provided all possible logistic assistance for conduct of the event

The Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Samote of District Rajouri celebrated Republic Day with the school childrens and local populace. The Commanding Officer, Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, Samote gave a message to the august gathering of prominent personalities including the students and teaching staff for maintaining peace and tranquility in the area. The school children from the neighboring schools presented cultural programme on themes of National Integration with complete enthusiasm and vigour.

Lt Gen DS Hooda, AVSM, VSM**, General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps conveyed his greeting to all the troops of the Corps and to the awaam of these districts on the occasion and asked them to spread a message of harmony and brotherhood in the region.
