Centre approves Rs. 13.20 cr. under CAMPA: Altaf
Jammu, February 1 (Scoop News) –Minister for Forests, Mian Altaf Ahmad today directed the officers to implement all approved projects by the Centre under CAMPA scheme expeditiously which are aimed at to improve wildlife infrastructure in the State.
While reviewing the progress of projects approved under CAMPA scheme for protection and conservation of wildlife in Jammu and Kashmir, at a meeting of officers held here today, the Minister laid stress on expeditious implementation of all the sanctioned projects strictly under the Supreme Court guidelines. He issued categorical instructions to the concerned officers to make judicious use of funds in a time bound manner to achieve the financial targets.
The Minister maintained that Centre has approved Rs. 13.20 crore under CAMPA for protection and conservation of wildlife habitats in the State and directed the officers to gear up men and machinery to complete the projects in a time bound manner. He said the officers who will perform better and achieve targets in time will be suitably rewarded and poor performers will face action, the Minister asserted.
Giving details about the features of sanctioned projects under CAMPA scheme, the Chief Wildlife Warden said that necessary guidelines and instructions have been issued to the field functionaries for taking up the projects at the earliest. He said the work on some social conservation projects whcih address man-animal conflict and related to eco-tourism have already been taken up and work is in progress. He said an amount of Rs. 1.53 crore stands expended out of Rs. 2.73 crore approved during 2010-11 under the scheme, he added.
Commissioner Secretary, Forests, Aijaz Iqbal, Chief Wildlife Warden, A.K.Singh, besides senior officers of wildlife department was present on the occasion.
