JK BJP welcomes Afzal Guru's hanging

Jammu, February 9 (Scoop News) –Welcoming the decision to hang Afzal Guru, BJP State President & MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma described it as a delayed decision though in right direction. He said the hanging of Afzal Guru was due for several years but the UPA government had unnecessarily delayed it.
Jugal Kishore Said that BJP has always taken up the fight against anti-national forces and shall continue to do so. He said the Congress led UPA government has come into action only because of pressure from BJP.
Jugal Kishore Sharma also cautioned the mainstream regional political parties, National Conference in particular and its leaders to refrain from making statements in support of Afzal Guru, who was a criminal and a terrorist and their utterances will cause provocations and lead to communal tension, unrest and law & order problem.
State BJP Chief Spokesperson Dr. Jitendra Singh said that a terrorist is a terrorist and should be treated as a terrorist irrespective of the religion be belongs or the region he hails from. He said in case of Afzal Guru, a dangerous signal had gone around that the punishment to him was being delayed because of his Kashmir connection which had led to disillusionment amount nationalist sections as well as among the country’s armed forces.
Dr. Jitendra Singh alleged that one of the important factors for continuing militancy is lack of deterrent punishment handed out in time and policy of appeasement towards separatists. He suggested that Govt. of India needs to evolve a firm uniform policy to deal with militants without falling prey to political considerations.
It may be recalled that the attack on Parliament by Afzal Guru and his accomplices took place in 2001 when Atal Behari Vajpayee was the PM and he had ensured speedy trial and punishment for the culprits but the UP government which took over kept dilly dalling as a result of which it took so many years to finally honour the court verdict .
