JK Governor appoints Khoda as CVC, Jerath VC
Jammu, February 11 (Scoop News) –Governor N. N. Vohra has appointed Kuldeep Khoda IPS, (Retd) as the Chief Vigilance Commissioner and R. K. Jerath IAS, (Retd) as Vigilance Commissioner in the State Vigilance Commission.

These appointments shall take effect from the date the officers assume charge of the posts in the State Vigilance Commission.

Kuldeep Khoda who had over four years tenure as the DGP of the State was approved for the posting as the CVC and Mr Jerath as the VCs after more than five months of the proposal being sent by the Government, which had replied the queries and objections raised by the Raj Bhawan on the appointments.

Mr Khoda had retired on May 31 as the state police chief while Mr Jerath, an IAS officer had retired as Financial Commissioner (Revenue. Mr Khoda was an IPS officer while Jerath an IAS officers.

It may be mentioned here that the Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Commission Act came in force in 2011 after the state Assembly passed the bill to set up a commission in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the Government started the process of appointment of Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) and Vigilance Commissioners to the State Vigilance Commission on February 5, 2012 following issuance of guidelines for the appointment.
The Commission has been empowered to inquire or cause inquiries to be conducted into offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act, Samvat 2006 by public servants, employees of corporations, government companies, societies and local authorities owned or controlled by the Government.
