Keen on dev of sports infrastructure in J&K: Taj | Jammu Marathon on Feb 17 | Jammu, February 14 (Scoop News) - Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Taj Mohi ud Din today said he was keen on development of sports infrastructure in the State for which the state Government would seek all possible help from the centre. Interacting with mediapersons in connection with the coming Jammu Marathon event being held on February 17, the Minister said that soon after he took over as the Minister incharge, he had directed that every middle and high school in the State should have playing teams in at least three disciplines of cricket, football and hockey. He said the state has ample human resource in sports but the infrastructure needs to match with it. He said an astro turf would be laid in Srinagar for which the tendering process has almost been completed whileas an indoor sports complex is being developed at Jammu. On the coming 4th Jammu Marathon race being held on February 17, the Minister said large number of people including some celebrities are expected to join the race which would be flagged off from M. A. Stadium and pass through B. C. Road, Amphalla, Kachi Chawni, Parade, Shalimar, Gumat to finally culminate back at the stadium. He said the 8.5km long race would start at 8.30 am. Taj said the race has been dedicated to the dignity and pride of Indian women. He said the aim of the race is to motivate general public on the issue and sensitise them accordingly. He said the first three runners would be awarded prizes of Rs. 21000, 11000 and Rs. 5100 respectively. Secretary, J&K Sports Council, Dileep Thusoo, organizers for 4th Jammu Marathon were also present on the occasion. ... |
