Tourism promotion priority of JK Govt: Mir
Several deputations calls on Tourism Minister
Jammu, February 18 (Scoop News) – Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmed Mir today said that the government was committed to provide better basic amenities to the people of state adding that in this regard a massive infrastructure development programme was underway across the state.
Interacting with several deputationists from valley here today, the Minister said that tourism being the backbone of state’s economy, the present government was paying focused attention for its promotion. He said Tourism Department was making strenuous efforts to develop new potential spots besides creating world class tourism infrastructure in the state.
The deputations who met the Minister were from Shangus, Dooru, Arikushipora, Qazigund, Batagund, besides Migrant Teachers Association. The deputations put forth their chatter of demands before the Minister and urged for early redressal.
A deputation led by District Congress President Anantnag, Gulzar Ahmed Wani demanded constitution of separate development authority for Acchabal-Chattapal. The members also urged for up-gradation of tourism infrastructure in Shangus constituency, besides development of Public Park at Dathinag.
Another deputation from Arikhushipora demanded restoration of power supply from the transformer installed previously for lifting ground water in the area. They said that the ground water lifting supply scheme was not functional since a long time as the transformer at the site was not in use.
The deputation of contractors association Qazigund pleaded for pending payment of the works already completed on Omoh- Jawahar tunnel road.
Another deputation from Batagund, led by Mukhtar Ahmed Bhat, demanded construction of water supply scheme in the area.
The Migrant Teachers Association requested for inclusion of their services from the day of their appointment.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the deputationists and said that their genuine demands would be taken up with the concerned authorities for early redressal.
